Policitians live on minimum wage, but not reallyAll of this is because de Blasio, along with seven other elected officials in the Big Apple, is living on minimum wage for one week as part of the “Workers Rising” challenge organized by UnitedNY and New York Community for Change. Each one has $92 to spend for the entire week, and a chronicle of their struggles shared on Twitter under the hashtag #canyousurvive reveals all are having a difficult time adjusting. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/07/26/19663755-canyousurvive-politicians-try-living-on-minimum-wage-but-then-what?lite I think this is great. However, all politicians, particularly right wingers, should be made to live on $92 a week for a month, but living in the corresponding home that goes along with that - the street.

1. Does this $92 include a place to live/sleep?
A cell phone? Transportation? If they take any meds, do they have those with them? If so, why?

2. That's probably some of that "not really" part.
We can't have these people feeling deprived, now, can we?

3. I don't think so. How could it? Once you subtract food, how much is left?
Not enough for anything.

4. I am sorry, anyone who has to suvive on $92.00 per week, will NOT get a $7.00 sandwitch
Some of his most recent meals? A $7 turkey sandwich, a $5 hot dog and a slice of pizza he bought in the hopes of saving money for dinner. |
