gerrymander as many municipalities as they can. In that manner they will be able to win elections and take over the House and Senate. McCarthy is eyeing chairmanship of the house and Graham wants chairmanship of the Senate. Mcconnell knows that he is on the way out and that is the reason for his speech. He is trying to hold on to the few that will support him and be able to save face if he is ousted by Graham. It is an ugly picture we face and I pray our Democratic Party is working hard to stop them. The third time, drumpf, bolstered by chickenshit legislators can destroy America.
President Biden and our party better do as much as we can in these first two years and block all their attempts. They are the most power hungry miscreants ever to disgrace the face of the earth.

(47,492 posts)Biden has been moving quickly to undue Trump's bad policies. I hope someone taps him on the shoulder and suggests he releases that phone recording taken by the NSA.
Graham is terrified about what will be revealed. We have a right to know what that is.

I watched the AG on Rachel and she is sharp and fearless. When Rachel asked her if she was afraid of intimidation she simply replied that she doubled her security.

(47,492 posts)It was from one of the committees. Graham was grilling someone about a FOIA request he had made. He wanted the transcripts. And he looked very concern, because they still hadn't gotten around to responding to his request.

(7,612 posts)I've been thinking all morning that Graham needs to be removed from all committees, especially Intelligence and Judiciary.
The grounds would be because he is openly colluding with the Traitor in Chief who has been condemned for the crimes on the Capitol etc.
I don't know if the same rule applies wrt removing a Senator from committee as would be a member of the House, but there has to be exception to whatever rule when colluding with a traitor.

(47,492 posts)There was an uproar when Republicans learned about FISA phone tapings, where they might have also been in on the conversation.

(3,334 posts)NSA does not need a warrant to tape between an American and a Russian. At least that was true in the 60s.

(47,492 posts)Now that we don't have his appointed goons hamstringing these agencies, we should revisit the issue.

(105,088 posts)Mark Elias is on the job with all the corrupt R attempts to pass new voter-suppression laws.
Both need our support and help, but it isn't as though Dems are doing NOTHING.

(29,989 posts)he's a powerhouse attorney who beat down 60 attempts by trump/co to suppress voters.
I think that combined with the late census data, we may have some chance on that front. Registering more voters and engaging the ones who are registered will be the task for the mid term elections.

(15,974 posts)dire thinking these days -- with good reason: we just witnessed a live attempted coup by a fomented mass of invader-marauders followed by an acquittal of their leader by the heretofore most revered deliberative body in the world!
But we are "fighting" back effectively. The miracle performed by Stacy Abrams et al is another example. I'm sure there are more. We ARE making progress!

(22,980 posts)Graham would do little to help Trump win. It's more likely Trump would turn to someone like Cotton, who I'm sure would say yes once he realized he couldn't win the nomination himself. Potentially being a heartbeat away from the presidency under an obese man in his late 70's would give Trump a wide field of craven opportunists to chose from if somehow Trump won the 2024 Republican nomination.

(3,767 posts)as conservative Dems like Manchin and Sinema (and perhaps others) would never go along with such 'radical' (lol) changes.
These are all things we need to do, as the system is too tilted against us, but we need bigger majorities to do things like this.
What we can do now is mobilize our base to vote in all elections, ie the middterms, state/local, etc - that is what would really change the game for us. Repubs control too many state legislatures, courts etc.
KPN
(15,974 posts)radius777
(3,767 posts)Same reason, because they're more conservative and 'institutionalist' and don't want such changes. And there are a few other Dems with that mindset. We need to build more popular support for our reforms, and build bigger majorities to do these things. Manchin and Sinema are even putting up a fuss about the 1.9T covid stimulus that would help their own constituents.
