Unlike many ordinary people, who squander money when they are feeling rich and who for some unknown reason are permitted to vote and thereby influence political events, corporations are careful money managers. If you know a person who employs a whole accounting department, then the odds are that the person is a corporation, rather than a featherless biped.
Corporations are skilled in the art of cutting costs. It is sometimes much less expensive to influence the political process and have regulations repealed than to comply with regulations.
In these bad economic times, we should all see the value in saving for a rainy day and praise those corporations that take their financial duties seriously.

(6,670 posts)They've got a long way to go in the suffering department to equal people, and if you think about it, most religions imply, or say directly that suffering leads to wisdom or salvation. It looks like we've got some work to do, and millions of years of hurt to catch up on.

(2,500 posts)and voting precincts could be enlarged to the immensity required for them to pass through the door, I suspect they would. Especially, the large smooth granite insurance giants with the ornate polished columns would find their way to the local precinct taking giant strides with their massive cornerstones. I thought I noticed some voting in the last midterms and before.
