(8,217 posts)Judge overstepped massively. Besides, she is using a church argument on this.

(27,995 posts)She certainly has overstepped her bounds! I've had many students named Jesus and Mohammed. A child's name is not a state issue.

(24,780 posts)Terrible name to have to carry for all your life. What's wrong with John? It's worse than some of the made up names people give their kids.

(26,355 posts)I suppose next, we'll be prohibiting Latino families from naming their kids "Jesus"?
Gman
(24,780 posts)If the judge had said he just doesn't like the name, it would be a whole other issue. But for the reasons the judge changed the name he should be disbarred.

(2,017 posts)not up to the State what you name your child...not in any way, shape, form, or intention

Though, I guess this means that the 2nd coming of the Messiah was talking about this baby getting his name back!
Sorry bad joke

(26,355 posts)Especially since she cited her own personal religious beliefs in her decision to force the tyke's name change.
You'd think a fucking judge would have read the fucking First Amendment.

(1,451 posts)The religious right is always putting their two cents and intra-vaginal probes where they don't belong. It seems right they want to be in the baby naming business. We all know what this is. Been there seen it before.

(23,819 posts)The article didn't say, but the comments below (and you should just look at some of the racist/bigoted shit on there!) clarified that the case was originally about establishing the baby's last name.
At first I was totally confused -- after all, who has standing to make a legal case about a name, other than the holder of that name?

(27,630 posts)If this is not the same kid as the one whose Mom I talked to 3 years ago, (and I doubt it is the same kid) then there are at least 2 Messiahs running around.
