She certainly has overstepped her bounds! I've had many students named Jesus and Mohammed. A child's name is not a state issue.

If the judge had said he just doesn't like the name, it would be a whole other issue. But for the reasons the judge changed the name he should be disbarred.

The article didn't say, but the comments below (and you should just look at some of the racist/bigoted shit on there!) clarified that the case was originally about establishing the baby's last name.

At first I was totally confused -- after all, who has standing to make a legal case about a name, other than the holder of that name?

If this is not the same kid as the one whose Mom I talked to 3 years ago, (and I doubt it is the same kid) then there are at least 2 Messiahs running around.
