The Rev. Corey Brooks moved into a tent on the roof of the motel Nov. 22 and has spent 94 days on his third-story perch in an effort to bring attention to gun violence that plagues the area. He had said he wouldnt come down until he raised the $450,000 to buy the former motel, which he said was a drug den, and raze it."
Good people make my day. I saw Rev. Brooks interviewed and he seems like such a compassionate man. Living on a rooftop in Chicago for three months in the winter (though a mild winter) has got to suck.

(82,849 posts)Whoda thunk it? Well, I'm sure we'll have our usual cadre appear to explain in detail how Rev. Brooks is just a con man peddling fairy tales to the gullible. None of them do anything apparent about gun violence and drug use but, you know, carping about people of faith is pretty much a full-time gig.
for the Rev.

(8,492 posts)I had to think twice about posting this because I didn't want to start another religious/non-religious battle. But, screw it. This isn't about religion, it's about faith...in humanity.
I'm not a Christian, but I see a lot good done by Christians. I'm not an Atheist, but I see a lot of good done by Atheists. This guy just happens to be Christian. I have the feeling if he were an Atheist, he'd still be a good person. Imagine that.
