Former WaPo Ombudsman OBLITERATES Jennifer Rubin, Tells Bezos to Fire Her Immediately
Quoting former WaPo ombudsman Patrick B. Pexton:
Not because she’s conservative, but because she’s just plain bad. She doesn’t travel within a hundred miles of Post standards. She parrots and peddles every silly right-wing theory to come down the pike in transparent attempts to get Web hits," Pexton wrote. "Her analysis of the conservative movement, which is a worthwhile and important beat that the Post should treat more seriously on its national pages, is shallow and predictable. Her columns, at best, are political pornography; they get a quick but sure rise out of the right, but you feel bad afterward. And she is often wrong, and rarely acknowledges it. She was oh-so-wrong about Mitt Romney, week after week writing embarrassing flattery about his 2012 campaign, calling almost every move he made brilliant, and guaranteeing that he would trounce Barack Obama. When he lost, the next day she savaged him and his campaign with treachery, saying he was the worst candidate with the worst staff, ever. She was wrong about the Norway shootings being acts of al-Qaida. She was wrong about Chuck Hagel being an anti-Semite. And does she apologize? Nope. Rubin was the No. 1 source of complaint mail about any single Post staffer while I was ombudsman, and I’m leaving out the organized email campaigns against her by leftie groups like Media Matters. Thinking conservatives didn’t like her, thinking moderates didn’t like her, government workers who knew her arguments to be unfair didn’t like her. Dump her like a dull tome on the Amazon Bargain Books page. The last sentence is what makes this art. ![]() ![]() Former WaPo Ombudsman To Bezos: Fire Jennifer Rubin http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/former-wapo-ombudsman-to-bezos-fire-jennifer-rubin?ref=fpa

1. Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark!
Anyone with half a brain can easily see that Rubin is hack of the first order.

3. After firing her, the Post needs to rehire an Ombudsman.
IIRC, Pexton finished his 2 year term in April and the Post got rid of the position by replacing it with a "reader's representative."

4. She should have been long FIRED for her shocking display of unprofessionalism
during the Brevik massacre in Norway (remember all the RW media hacks getting orgasmic over muslim jihad finally coming to Europe):

6. Oucheroo.
Yep, she's deluded by fame and wealth. She adds no value to my life. Her GOP cheerleader blather loses me within the 1st paragraph. Her writing adds no value. That's why, I stopped reading her long ago. Column space in your paper is rather expensive, I imagine. Surely Bezos can find better talent to fill those column inches.

8. Maybe its best to have conservative writers who are incompetent
In the same way that Fox News used Combs for years to represent the liberal viewpoint

9. Good point.
They should give column space to the most wacked-out crazy wingnut. Palin, for example.

12. I'm sure that's how Combs kept his job. Not that it was in any way admirable.
I often thought "Hannity and Combs" was a lot like pro wrestling in it's set up. The difference being that the loser acted the wimp instead of being a cheating meanie. At least Fox has quit pretending to have any liberal voices. I'll except the few "news personalities" they've had who have occasionally gained mainstream praise for straying off the reservation.

13. combs arguments made sense
the problem was more that he wouldn't be able to get a word in and the others just dominated the show with their loud ignorance.
