BiRTHER ALERT: Honestly people need to have a basic understanding of Definitions

Another Birth is at it again, this time in Georgia:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/17/georgia-birther-suit-attempts-to-remove-obama-from-2012-ballot/

Georgia State Representative J. Mark Hatfield (R-Waycross) will plead the case before the Office of State Administrative Hearings on behalf of Mr. Kevin R. Powell of Duluth, Georgia, who filed the suit on the grounds that “Obama does not satisfy the ‘natural born Citizen’ requirement of Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of the United States Constitution. Obama’s father, Barack Obama, Sr., was a native of Kenya and a British subject who never became a United States citizen.”

__________________________________________________________________

How stupid are these people that they don't understand that The PARENTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE AMERICAN CITIZENS BUT THE PERSON RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT DOES!!! ALSO A NATURAL CITIZEN is one of a couple ways.

NOW Please correct me if I am wrong BUT I was always taught that a person became a citizen by

1) Being born on U.S. Soil or Territory. A person who is born in the American Embassy of Whosville is on American soil and therefore an american citizen.

2) IF one of the person's parents is an American citizen they become a natural citizen.

So how does someone born on an american soil to one parent of U.S. citizenship not able to be president.

INSTEAD of spending 5 hours a day teaching kids how to past a test JUST so the school district can get federal funding. JUST MAYBE our schools should be teaching kids important things like logical reasoning and civics and geography and than maybe when these kids go home at night some of these births just might be re-learned the constitution and just basic understanding of how our country works.

It is academic, but birth abroad to a US parent between successive revisions of the naturalization laws between 1952 and 1986 required the US citizen parent to have lived in the US for 10 years, at least five of which were after the age of 16.

Of course, Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and thus was born a citizen regardless of the citizenship of his parents (unless they were diplomats).

As of Obama's birth in 1961, I thought that the requirement you stated as "at least five of which were after the age of 16" was "at least five of which were after the age of 14". Obama's mother was 18 when he was born but she didn't miss the cutoff by much, IIRC.

Of course, you're quite right that this doesn't matter in terms of his citizenship. It is, however, important that we not mindlessly repeat "you're a citizen if one of your parents was a citizen." For the reason you state (be it five years after age 14 or after age 16), that wasn't the law in 1961, so we do NOT want to be taking issue with the birthers on that grounds.

...it really doesn't matter, since a birthed who has reached that level of sophistication is truly nuts anyway. Since actually knowing the relevant facts and law is not compatible with being a birther.

a. one or more parents were not natural born citizens of the United States

b. one or more parents were not naturalized citizens of the United States

shall be corrected by all of the following measures:

d. the generally-accepted dictionary definition of "jus soli" is branded on their lower torso, backwards, with a hot branding iron, so that when viewed in the common mirror the wording appears correct to the brandee

e. all forms of government identification issued by the federal government, all state governments, and all administrative subdivisions therein, will mark the brandee's identifying documents with "BIRTHER" in prominent letters.

f. all persons wishing to marry a brandee shall be required to read and sign a duly notarized document stating that they are aware that the person they are marrying is has been marked and corrected for erroneous understanding of the Constitution as amended.

The evident purpose of this plan is to support Big Agriculture.

I demand that it be reworded to require that all thrown fruits and vegetables be locally grown. Support small farmers!
