http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/23/california-most-hated-state_n_1297843.htmlPerhaps, then, California should be dumped into the sea by an earthquake. To hell with the $1.9 trillion in GDP and $37.5 billion in food that they produce, including HALF of the nation's fruits, nuts and vegetables. America can do without all of that! *

I think I'll stay.

(40,656 posts)small town and to commute to cali for work began to move into Oregon and try to change it into the same place they fled we had a bumper sticker that said "Don't Californicate Oregon". It was tense for a lot of years there. :-D

(6,086 posts)Norte, etc. I'm tired of people pushing up the cost of living by building McMansions in neighborhoods and pushing the taxes and the average costs of homes in the areas surrounding them up to where average people can no longer afford their homes or farms.

now the Amazon clowns are down to touting 80% off web-coupons for Chines acupunture clinics, Indian restaurants, cheap bars & discos, in NYC.
i'm getting spammed every day by Amazon, after my last order of books 3 years back. i think they are learning the meaning of your phrase: "Actually, no they can't", the hard way.

(15,189 posts)I find this really hard to believe. Yes we have earthquakes, fires, and drought. I lived in Pa for 3 years, and didn't care for the lifestyle out there. And their city laws are just ridiculous. You have to repair YOUR sidewalk if cracked or sinking. Or YOU have to shovel the snow off your sidewalk, even during a snow storm. I would much rather put up with a few earthquakes than a tornado, or hurricane any day. This poll in my guess was freeped.

(16,588 posts)California resident hears about chicken cruelty and then:
-Adopts laws against factory farming.
-Adopts "truth in labeling" laws about chicken feed.
-Adopts "truth in labeling" laws about chicken care.
-Adopts a "care for a chicken" policy, with webcam updates on a chicken, that is time-shared.
-Adopts personal buying habits to avoid "evil" eggs.
Their eggs are healthy, factory and cruelty free.

Of course, as Warren said, it rains, so, yeah, stay away if you don't like rain.
Please.

Congratulations to all Californians who have managed to put a stick up the ass of the Republicans, keep up the good work!

(6,169 posts)while the liberals have many to choose from when choosing a state to hate.
So this is just old-fashioned, conservative California-hate, nothing surprising at all there.
We must be doing something right.

Apparently, that's enough to bring the price down quite a bit compared to the rest of the country. Fine with me!
The article speculates that this will end by summer, though.

(24,544 posts)I'm not surprised by the results of this survey at all. It wouldn't be hard for anyone to move to California if they wanted to, would it? And I'm sure these same folks saying everyone else is jealous are shocked (SHOCKED!!) that a Southern state didn't reign supreme though Mississippi did come close.

When I was growing up it always seemed that every serial killer, serial rapist or other assorted loony either started in or wound up in California. Between the earthquakes, mud slides and serial killers, I always though you'd have to be a stone cold psychopath to live anywhere in California. Of course as you get older, you realize the rest of the country has contributed more than its fair share of serial killers and other assorted lunatics but that first view of California has always kind of colored how I perceive the state.
Yeah, there's a revelation there.
