He's the person who continued and expanded Bush's domestic surveillance program. He didn't have to. He owns this problem, this problem that trumps politics for many of us. I don't care what the President's legislative priorities are right now, not when we need to put a halt to business as usual while addressing this democracy-killing spying. So yes, I'm angry about the situation too, but not in the same way you are.

You already know the NSA is building the largest data center in the history of data centers, and the extra space isn't for daycare. You already know about the Verizon warrant covering EVERY customer. In March of 2012, Holder expanded the warrantless portion of the spy program. It's expanding, not contracting.

needs, or it could represent a centralization of numerous centers that already existed.

Metadata was already collected on all phone calls during the Bush administration, which was also engaged in warrantless wiretapping against US citizens. Bush was forced to end warrantless wiretapping against US citizens in 2008 and Holder hasn't expanded it. Since 2008 warrantless wiretapping has targeted foreign citizens, not US citizens.

Welcome to DU.

Apathy (also called impassivity or perfunctoriness) is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation and passion. An apathetic individual has an absence of interest in or concern about emotional, social, spiritual, philosophical and/or physical life.
They may lack a sense of purpose or meaning in their life. An apathetic person may also exhibit insensibility or sluggishness.

In positive psychology, apathy is described as a result of the individual feeling they do not possess the level of skill required to confront a challenge (i.e. "Flow&quot .

It may also be a result of perceiving no challenge at all (e.g. the challenge is irrelevant to them, or conversely, they have learned helplessness)

the rec list is priceless

The NSA is a tool that can be used (and who knows, probably already is used) to make sure the Government can continue to protect the 1% and itself from the 99%, as well as protect the developing fascism in this country. The only democracy we have is a smoke and mirrors democracy. Seriously, a lot of people in this country don't like or don't agree with the foundation of America and would want America to be reshaped to their desire.
