Serious Question... (And I'm Gonna Take Hell For This) What If....
Obama got out in front of the NSA story by publicly joining Leahy and Wyden for hearings to "fix" the NSA/Patriot Act.

1. He already stated his willingness for a public advocate, but
Even if he fixes this problem which is 40yrs old he will get zero credit for it.

3. Of course he would get "credit" for it.
But he won't do it.... and for that he deserves credit for NOT fixing it.

5. Ya Can't Fix It In Secret... And... He's Already Said He "Welcomes The Debate"...
So join those who do, in a very public way, and provide whatever is necessary, and I'll sure as hell give him credit.

8. Obama has zero credibility on this issue
He came out and claimed the NSA is not spying on Americans. That's a lie. Everyone knows that is a lie. So he's lost all credibility on this.
Obama, Clapper, Alexander, and Feinstein have lied. Im sorry but I dont trust a damn thing any of those 4 say concerning the NSA or concerning the intelligence apparatus of this nation. And it's not about national security. It is AGAINST THE LAW and against regulation and against the 4th amendment for the NSA to be spying on American citizens on American soil. PERIOD! There is no excuses! It's not the job of the NSA to spy on us! That's illegal! |

2. Too late. He already said there's no spying on Americans
Obama To Leno: 'There Is No Spying On Americans'
by Greg Henderson August 07, 201312:44 AM President Obama defended the US government's surveillance program, telling NBC's Jay Leno on Tuesday that: "There is no spying on Americans." "We don't have a domestic spying program," Obama said on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. "What we do have is some mechanisms that can track a phone number or an email address that is connected to a terrorist attack. ... That information is useful." http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/08/06/209692380/obama-to-leno-there-is-no-spying-on-americans |

6. And, invite the ACLU and Daniel Ellsberg to testify.
Nah.....that would indicate he was actually serious about a "debate".

16. Ya Know...
That's always been the real question for me.
Pick the most obscure non-political nation... Luxemberg... Tahiti... What would WE do if we found out that THEY were monitoring us ? Yet... WE... Have no problem doing it to the ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET. ![]() |

12. He has made it difficult for himself to be sure!
I have a difficult time trying to think of an event that would give him the cover he needs to backtrack on his "Americans are not being spied on" remark. He didn't give himself much wiggle room for later action. And, that is all supposing he even considers a serious review and reform of the NSA is needed.
