Hans Blix: U.S. has “poor excuse” for Syria incursion now
Seeing echoes of Iraq, weapons inspector says "political dynamics are running ahead of due process"

Following Secretary of State John Kerry’s Monday announcement that it was “undeniable” that the Syrian regime had used chemical weapons in a rebel-held suburb, calls among Western leaders for military intervention have reached fever pitch.

Hans Blix, the chief U.N. arms inspector for Iraq from 2000 to 2003, who famously decried the Bush administration’s over-hyping of the threat of WMD in Iraq to justify war, is seeing a similar pattern with regards to Syria and chemical weapons.

Blix told the Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nathan-gardels/hans-blix-the-united-stat_b_3819367.html?utm_hp_ref=tw

But it turned out that he really wasn't the one.

No, it was Dr. Bruce Ivins, a guy who had killed himself after being hounded by the FBI.

Not that any of this had any bearing on Saddam, who definitely probably most likely had anthrax.

Trust us.

The authoritarian warmongers are out in force trying to divert attention away from all of the domestic issues that actually have the American public's attention.

is applicable today as it was then:

"I believe that if we had and would keep our dirty, bloody, dollar-soaked fingers out of the business of these nations so full of depressed, exploited people, they will arrive at a solution of their own -- and if unfortunately their revolution must be of the violent type because the "haves" refuse to share with the "have-nots" by any peaceful method, at least what they get will be their own, and not the American style, which they don't want and above all don't want crammed down their throats by Americans. "

We don't tolerate war crimes from others, even if we don't actually know who committed them.

This is playing out exactly like Iraq, with one exception: Everyone sees through the justifications and the cheerleaders that support it. It probably helps that the people cheering it on are completely recycling the talking points from Iraq. "They know things you don't!" "We have to trust the president!" I expect to see yellowcake uranium make an appearance any day now.

Funny thing about all the news of our preparing to strike Syria many of my conservative relatives and friends on FB have suddenly gone from posting their usual bigoted ugly rants against the administration and liberals and are posting things like:

Bombs away Mr. President!

and

Make America Proud!

Such sickening bloodlust.

Cannot tell up from down anymore...
