What do you think of this scenario?
Obama does not want to go to war with Syria, but wants to avoid being painted as weak by neocons and MSM hawks.
In order to avoid conflict with Syria, he asks Congress for authorization to go to war, knowing that Congress will say no.
Obama will then be able to say both that he wanted to go to war (killing the neocons' argument) and that he sought Congressional authorization, which 80% of Americans want.

(752 posts)he said he doesn't think we can watch children get killed and stand idly by. Who's going to argue with that? But he didn't say he wanted to go to war with Syria, just order some sort of response... leaves a lot of wiggle room.
