So all crucial elements about the decision to go to war are secret, and congress is a formality?

Am I to believe the DUers that were a haven of sanity in times of total insanity (the Bush selection, 9/11 and Iraq) are gonna take this sitting at their keyboard?

After the total degradation of the standing of the USA through the revelation of omnipresent and unwarranted spying, I hope you understand how close you are to being isolated. Oh, not in the diplomatic sense. The US has too many big guns and other firepower. I speak of isolated as in unrespected by other people in the west. That may take a generation to bite, but it will bite you back some day.

If you still believe in democracy, please fight for it at home. Let your voice be heard first, and demand respect for congress after (in the event you can bring them to consider their electorate - whose pressure/opinion many senators referenced in the hearing tonight).

that the President was going to bomb Syria and not go to Congress first.

This week, we're upset that he IS going to Congress.

Shocked I tell you, shocked.

are asleep. But in what way was DU upset about the president going to congress?
I must say 'allowing' congress to chime in with a yes isn't what I call going to congress. It looks like a charade, from afar.

I missed that part. In fact there were a lot of support posts for the move, which we know he didn't want to do.

We're upset that they are lying to us.

HUGE difference.

And yes, there was a rush by some in the Administration to just strike Syria without consulting Congress. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.

Some folks will turn on those of us who oppose illegal wars and the bombing of countries to punish anyone who does not accept that the bullies are in charge of the planet.

Its a kabuki theatre of MIC, AIPAC, and Saudi lobbyists. POTUS is going to rain Tomahawks on Damascus no matter how Congress votes, or what we think. And when it doesn't work, its boots into the quagmire.
