1 hour of Fox News and a tea party guy

Ok, I just got home from an hour waiting to get my car serviced here in Oklahoma. The waiting room was full, the tv was on Faux news and I asked if I could change it. You would have thought I said I did not believe in God. I gave up, got out my ipad and tried to ignore it.

At that point two over 60 white guys began to talk about socialism and how the liberals were trying to ruin the country. They began to talk about Medicare and I bit my tongue. Of course they believe they have earned that and it is not one of those social programs. They also think that the government should get out of the healthcare business BUT they talked about medicare and how much they could not function without it.

They talked about Obamacare, they said it was wrong to force an American to buy health insurance for $1000 a month .... Then they showed themselves, one man said "if we didn't have a black guy who loves to give his buddies welfare and buy elections with welfare this country would be fine", the other people in the room agreed. I could not bring myself to take on all that ignorance at one time while my care is on the lift.

They really don't get it.... It is 10 a.m. and I need a drink....

I ask if they heard about death panels.

FEMA camps.

I try to see if they'll try to correct me. Tell me that whatever I said is false.

They eat it up.

That given the average age of faux news viewers is over 70, as is the whole "take our country back" angry white curmudgeons crowd, and know that in a half dozen years they'll be gone ( or irrelevant ) and that you could be in a then blue state. If any of these thoughts waver: Have another drink.

Arizona, Texas, Georgia and Louisiana will go blue reliably, and North Carolina, despite current setbacks, will go blue for good.

I pay for both and combined they are nowhere near $1000 a month. I don't know where that figure comes from.

The day to day grind of listening to that junk will wear on you after a while. I quit arguing when they reported me to the Dean for bringing politics into the workplace. I guess tea party crap doesn't count....

Your I-Pad or I-Phone would likely need an IR dongle though.

I had a similar experience last Sat. at a Chevy dealership waiting room. MSNBC Had some clown named "Col. Jacobs" on just ripping Obama to shreds. My Samsung S4 has IR built in and I have a few free remote apps loaded. I was able to turn the channel and lock it out. It's really useful because it's completely anonymous and gets around the problem of them hiding the remote from the public.

Works in bars, waiting rooms and annoying relatives homes. Helps avoids arguments.

The entire deficit problem is caused by the amount of money being spent on welfare for lazy black people. That is what they learn from Limbaugh and Hannity.

They're told that Obama beat Romney (despite the "unskewed" polls showing an impending Romney victory) because the Democrats recruited a lot of illegal Somalian immigrants and bused them from one polling place to another so that they could cast multiple illegal votes for Obama.

I sometimes exaggerate for effect. This is not exaggeration. This is literally what some RWNJ's will tell you.
