Just Now: Alan Grayson FORCEFULLY opposes Syrian bombing.

PBS NEWS (can't link)

Grayson, a Democrat from Central Florida, thinks the votes are there to quash approval/authorization for strikes in Syria. He is not concerned about political consequences for Obama.

The most forceful presentation of arguments for
non-intervention yet. Handled tough questions with clean, clear, effective manner. And you should see his tie.

Please provide links if you have them.

Note Grayson is from FLORIDA.

Chemical weapon usage MUST be stopped, when the US has failed to do a single thing about their own war criminals. Something the whole world is now pointing out.

Too bad we decided to protect War Criminals who killed over one million human beings. Too bad we have the arrogance to believe the World would not notice.

George Bush killed untold numbers of people in Fallujah with White Phosphorous and the damage to generations of people is ongoing, as babies continue to be born with horrible deformities in Fallujah ever since.

What do you think should be done about that? The victims are begging for justice. Should THEY be ignored as they watch their babies suffering years after that War Crime was committed?

We decided the exact opposite of what you just suggested. We decided to 'move forward' from War Crimes, when it was OUR War criminals we were talking about. But the VICTIMS have not, cannot 'move forward'.

We have an International arena to deal with these kinds of crimes. Why is the US refusing to use that avenue, which has certainly been used very effectively in the past?

What will dropping bombs for 90 days to do 'end the use of CW'??

Why are they afraid to present their evidence to the world and let a court of law decide the issue?

One country, with a vested interest, should never be allowed to go off on its own and do what we did in Iraq ever again. That was one giant war crime and the horrors are still ongoing and will be for generations.

In that News Hour interview he refused to be taken off topic. Loved it.

The fact that the bombing may not be voted up.
The Walmart Workers striking.
The Talk of raising the min wage.
The ACA

Country is swinging back from war and corporate love.

Will they suspend democracy to keep it from happening.

to mention the population we used it on.

Nor have I forgotten the use of DU and the hundreds of thousands of troops from Gulf War 1 who are still sick and disabled from their contact with it, both here and in Britain, the many who have died at a young age since their return, and once again, the refusal of this Government, that claims now to care so much about the use of CW, to even acknowledge them.

When our government starts cleaning up its own backyard, prosecuting its own War Criminals, taking care of its own Veterans from at least THREE of its own 'wars' suffering from the effects of CW WHICH WE USED, THEN, maybe, our Govt can speak about these things with any kind of moral authority.

...if Obama hadn't declared immunity for war criminals?

And if you drop bombs om Assad for using CW, then why aren't bombs being dropped on rebels, who have been using CW?

The UN is charged with policing the wmd ban, why not support them in that role, rather than going all rogue vigilante? Does Obama think hes Rambo?

Maybe it will diminish him even more, but the alternative has little political upside. Somehow, I think he got his "cue" from the British Parliament.
And given the Teabag faction's success at poaching the peace initiative from a locked out "professional left," he has set up the best way out: Blame it on the peaceniks, who/where/whenever they are.

This talk sounds more like something from the Bush playbook every day.

Like any peacenik thinks we have done anything wrong by refraining from bombing the shit out of people? What the hell?

Takes some strange headcheese to come up with that argument.

Many on DU are among President Obama's staunchest supporters. They have stood by him through all the bitterly partisan attacks leveled at him (quite often in the vilest, most racist terms) and they now see our rejection of his call to attack Syria as just another attempt to weaken our President. They are wrong this time.

I hate war; I hate its waste; I hate its violence; I hate its destruction and I hate how it turns my country into a nation of crazed, bloodthirsty maniacs. Once we begin a war, the War-Lovers take over everywhere, and those who want peace are mocked as weaklings and cowards. I do not, however, care what they choose to call those of us who are trying to prevent yet another unnecessary, illegal war of choice which we have very little chance to win. We simply have to try.

If we can somehow succeed in stopping this war before it begins, we will have done the American people and their descendants a very valuable service, whether they all appreciate it right now or not.

Thank you for putting it in perspective.

I can feel enormous sympathy for those who want to back Obama through thick and thin. I was one who felt such hope when I voted in 2008. I held my nose in 2012. And I find that sad. What a change in my own attitude. And not due to any change in my political views either.

And what makes me maddest is that after Bush I swore I would NEVER be fooled again. And I also was naive enough to believe a Democrat would NEVER lie us into another war in the middle east.

Because he would have known--as he does now--that any intervention would suck the U.S. into a long ground war with lots of casualties. It wasn't our problem then and it's not our problem now!

Tough luck, Kosovars!

Syria is not a genocide, it's a civil war.

The genocide will come when our favored outcome of "regime change" finally happens and the Christians, Alawites and other minorities are slaughtered or forced to flee.

Kosovo didn't have the ability to lob a couple of missiles at Israel... nor did they have the stockpile of chemical weapons that Syria has---nor did the have Russia's backing---or Iran, etc.
