(297,921 posts)Brilliant writing - loads of social commentary. He was actually born in Grenada but his family moved to Trinidad. Won several carnival titles. He was such a part of my life, it's hard to believe this is the end.

(80,062 posts)I remember borrowing a couple of his albums from a classmate in high school -- her parents were Trinidadian and huge Mighty Sparrow fans. I never gave the albums back.
Bet they had other copies. We have most of his music.
He did a classic when that man entered Buckingham Palace and supposedly the Queen's bedroom. His clever use of words made that song a favorite of all who heard it.

This one is hilariously clever as you wrote.
Sparrow could be serious but he was often loads of fun.
Check out Drunk and Disorderly for fun and Dan is the man in the Van for a serious commentary on British colonial education.
