Brilliant writing - loads of social commentary. He was actually born in Grenada but his family moved to Trinidad. Won several carnival titles. He was such a part of my life, it's hard to believe this is the end.

I remember borrowing a couple of his albums from a classmate in high school -- her parents were Trinidadian and huge Mighty Sparrow fans. I never gave the albums back.

He did a classic when that man entered Buckingham Palace and supposedly the Queen's bedroom. His clever use of words made that song a favorite of all who heard it.

Sparrow could be serious but he was often loads of fun.
