I'd like to hear other people's opinion about why the teabaggers continue to try and defund

Obamacare.

Me, I think it is that they are terrified at the thought of another Democratic law becoming really successful and
them - once again - looking like idiots.

Or maybe they are all stoned and can't remember that they did it already, 40 times.

It's a good meme for fundraising and getting people to meetings, and they'll use it until they find another one.

If the ACA kicks in now and people are used to it, and like it, they won't be able to run on that next year. People will see that they are trying to get rid of something that they have gotten used to.

They are currently trying to delay it for a year and tying it to the debt limit:

If they do, they will whip up fear right before the mid terms. If they cannot delay it then by the time the midterms hit....well the message they want to send will only bring out more voters who want to keep it.

Pure politics and working for the next election and not about the people at all.

At this point it is ritualistic, symbolic behavior, verging on a compulsion.

You might as well ask people why we paint eggs at Easter. Yeah, sure, there is a reason for it somewhere, but it's something that people just do.

They can't help themselves.

to healthcare, for the foreseeable future. While I believe we can, and MAY, get to single payer, I think the ACA only forestalls that end result.

Be that as it may, I also believe this was an inevitable first step and am behind Obamacare. Its hopefully going to get more people some care and that's always good.

They lies and distortion are all hard truth in their alternate reality. And we in the real world are the deluded ones. There is no bridge to them. They dynamited it long ago now.

Many of them exist in a talk radio and Fox news bubble. For these people the world is binary. They are going to oppose anything we say or do, while defending their own with a fiery passion. Seriously, do you REALLY think they don't realize Palin is an imbecile? In any case, don't feel too superior, we tend to do the same.

Social Security didn't start out perfectly.
Childhood Labor Laws, public education, etc. etc. - didn't start out perfectly.

They know they 'owe us one' since the Bush Tax Cuts for the rich became permanent.

Every day that the ACA stands - is another day towards it become Permanent - and more important - PERFECTED (single payer possibly?).
