Burn the Koran? Then burn the BIBLE!

An "eye for an eye" as the Bible says. No, don't kill anyone. Use their tactics. Find every Bible and make a big bonfire. Will this outrage the international community? Will this result in deaths? Nope.

Besides how many Bibles do you think there are in Afghanistan?

Will it outrage the international community, probably not, but the Christian Taliban will raise hell!

Will it result in deaths, anything is possible...even the Christian Taliban have their share of whackos!

The Bible also talks about forgiveness...why not that instead of "an eye for an eye"?

But I should think that if the United States had been occupied for the last 10 years by foreign troops who were wont to bomb weddings, fire missiles into neighborhoods, machine gun transport trucks full of prisoners, bury the bodies in unmarked graves out in the wilderness, indefinitely imprison and torture citizens on little more than hearsay, and then burn some Bibles "by accident," there might be a wee bit of push back.

Are you willing to have those tactics visited on us? Or are you just positing nonsense for the sake of some ersatz equivalency argument that is . . . lacking?

10 years of occupation, torture... Those are not the reason that they are protesting, it is specifically and solely due to koran burning.

I know that our faultless bulldogs of the Fourth Estate like to spoon-feed us a simple narrative, either because of their low estimate of our ability to comprehend stuff or their own. But I'm persuaded that the protests are not solely about the burning of the Korans, but that incident was rather the spark that lit the tinder we've been stacking up for 10 years in Afghanistan.

If you have solid information that the protests in Afghanistan are "specifically and solely due" to Koran burning, please share it. Otherwise, I remain skeptical.

because it was offensive to have the Bible in a Muslim country.

Of course, no deaths were the result of that because Christians are little more tolerant maybe?

An Order for the Disposal of Bibles and Other Respected Publications

...

Those Gathered: Amen.

It is suggested that the Leader or the appointee then place the books in a box for deposit in a paper recycling bin. Recyclers request that hard covers and any metal be removed and disposed of separately. It is suggested that highly decorated or name-imprinted hard or leather covers may make attractive family heirlooms and may be candidates for framing.

Here's what you do for instant outrage: Just draw a picture of anything you want and call it a drawing of Mohammed.

8. Why do people think this was simply over the Quran
Thu Mar 1, 2012, 06:02 PM
Mar 2012

It's far more complex than that. The burning of the Quran was just the final straw after having their country occupied for a decade and seeing their people killed by that occupying force. Islam is seen as the glue that is holding a fragil society together so while the burning of the Quran is the spark, the kindling for the fire has been prepared over a decade of occupation. Religion is rarely the single cause of events like this, fanaticalism does not arise in a vacuum. It arises as an (wrong) answer to oppression.

The bigger issue is about occupying a foreign country, but the RELIGIOUS fanatics in THIS country want to make it a religious issue. Hell, with all that this going on in THIS country, it makes ME want to burn Bibles right here in the the USA.
