1. Was watching AJ America tonight during dinner - it was the only station that was airing news...

CNN, MSNBC, HLN, FoxNews all take the evenings off on the weekends and show documentaries or repeats.

If AJ America were to air World and U.S. news 'live' from Friday evening thru to Monday morning non-stop then they'd be #1
in no time at all.

2. If The World Were About To End They Would Miss The Story.

I do not have cable because it is NOT worth the money with so many commercials, infomercials and repeats and other garbage that has been bubbified and stupidified. I am at a time share and all those channels are pure crap on weekends and not much better during the week. Fox is worse than ever and CNN is a worse than ever pseudo Fox network.

It is no wonder so many Americans have their head up their collective asses.

5. Is MSNBC still devoted to prison porn on the weekends,

I haven't watched them in a while?

6. Mostly yes. I thought when...

I thought when MSNBC moved The Ed Show and Karen Finney over to Saturday and Sunday late afternoon they were going to develop a whole weekend line up.

But now they've moved Ed back to weeknights.

So, after Finney's show is over they start up with prison or Caught on Camera shows.

And CNN has that Anthony Bourdean (spelling ?) traveling food guy, that I can't stand, and also documentaries and repeats on the weekend nights it seems.

7. MSNBC Prison Porn is VERY informational and instructive!

With today’s corporate prisons, out of control cops and joke of a justice system one may very well find themselves part of the world’s largest prison population!

Watching one will learn how to interact with other inmates and how to make shanks, slashing devices and zip guns from commonly available items in prison.

I for one take great pride on the success I had in making a shank out of coffee lids, a dime, matches and water from the toilet using the instruction I received on MSNBC.

Personally I think everyone should be aware of what to do or not to do in prison, it is a life skill.

17. You make a good point and I'm wondering if it isn't part of the

corporate media's mass, psychological, criminalization process of the American Peoples' mentality.

"We're guilty until proven innocent," just a leg of the ongoing national surveillance state being created among other intrusive, authoritarian style policies being promoted or enacted.

The U.S. prison population is over two million and if you count their affected families that might kick it up to six million, a little more or a little less. Six million is only 2% of the the American Population at three hundred million even (and I'm sure we're over that number) so MSNBC dedicates over 28% of their weekly programming to prisons.

The numbers seem out of whack to me for any responsible news network especially when one takes in to account Cleita's point of so many other unmet or underserved societal needs to report on.

9. Rachel talked about it last week and said the prison shows got really good ratings.

I guess there's a market out there of mean spirited voyeurs who enjoy watching other people suffer.

13. It is actually provides a very interesting insight into our public and private prison systems

and its impact not only into prison life but the impact on the families they left behind. It is also about redemption and hope too. watch it you may learn some thing about how many people in America live today.

15. I know too many people in America are living in and affected by our.

prison system and I'm sure we need occasional documentaries on it like we need to see about the daily lives of the homeless and other unfortunates in our society, but these prison shows all week ends and on several channels are overkill and sensationalism to me.

4. I am going to seek it out.

Everything else sucks. I don't watch anything but "Daily" and "Cobert" and only after I record them, so I don't have to sit through the commercials. It's just getting worse and worse.

16. We used to get Canadian TV and BBC news but not anymore.

FSTV has been airing France 24 in English which is trying to be Al Jazeera and I find kind of interesting for a European, non-British viewpoint.

14. Too Bad

Too bad the name Al Jazeera sounds "Muslin." A lot of Merkins probably think it's anti-American.
