I get so frustrated when I watch some of these morning talk shows. I'm watching Morning Joe, and within a 2 minute period I heard how much the polling is showing that the American people is against "Obamacare" at least 3 types. I just did a simple Google search on that topic and the very first article I find is from the LA Times. According to the Times:
The September Pew Research poll shows that 53% disapprove of Obamacare, while 42% approve. What Republicans are not saying is that, according to a May CNN poll, more than a quarter of those disapproving are opposed because the law does not go far enough.
The Pew poll also reports that about half of the 53% who disapprove of the law (27% overall) want Congress to make it work. So in fact, a minority of Americans want the law repealed entirely. Furthermore, Obamacare's unpopularity can be explained largely by the unrelenting GOP campaign of misinformation.

(4,795 posts)Your point really only makes sense if those on the left think that its remotely in the proper direction, but simply inadequate. That isn't actually my perspective at all. It isn't "a step" or "a pathway" to a proven, efficient, egalitarian solution like single-payer at all. Its a "uniquely American" experiment pushed through for a political win that will have unpredictable myriad consequences and still leave many with insurance they can't afford to use (due to usage fees). It just may be that some of those on the left do not see this as halfway good, but rather as a unique heap of shit in its own way.
But that isn't how you want to interpret the results. That's the funny thing about polls. Sometimes they say more about the person interpreting them than the population being sample, since their result may be somewhat ambiguous

(25,005 posts)However, I don't honestly believe that it's the clear will of the public (as the Republicans like to claim) that ACA be repealed and to the extent that people "disapprove" of the law, I don't honestly believe that most people would support a government shutdown/debt default and all of the resulting consequences in order to get rid of it. Republicans are in for quite a shock if they decide to pull the trigger on this IMHO.
