(12,081 posts)My husband and the rest of us have private insurance policies. He also qualified for Medicare. We never cancelled his private policy after he started receiving Medicare. His bills are 100% covered this way. So, should he shop for private insurance on the exchange? Can he even do that? I don't know if he has a Medicare supplemental plan or not. I don't think he does. If he were to get a Medicare supplemental plan would his bills be 100% covered or would he be better off keeping his private policy? I'm really confused. Maybe I need to call someone.

(151,269 posts)My wife will, though, and based on what we've seen so far, it's going to save a good deal of money over her current high health insurance premium.

(151,269 posts)an expensive individual plan. This will let her switch, and we'll probably qualify for the subsidies, too.

(8,492 posts)The Republicans in Arizona are having a civil war so I'm hoping to be able to do something once they decide which side has bigger guns, or sumthin'. Last I checked, the .gov site said of Arizona "Check back later for updates".
It's been 12 years since I've had insurance. I'm scared to death of going to the doctor, now.

(6,261 posts)I received a letter from BCBS saying that our current plan will end 12/31. I haven't read it closely enough to see if we're going to be auto-enrolled in something else or if we need to go shopping ourselves.
Our current crappy plan is $600 a month and covers essentially nothing. A silver plan would be over $1,000 a month according to the calculator but would actually cover a few things and would limit annual out of pocket expenses.
We'll have to see how it works out.
