Al Gore: GOP Guilty Of 'Political Terrorism'

Former Vice President Al Gore said the GOP is guilty of "political terrorism" because of those who are threatening a government shutdown over Obamacare.

“The only phrase that describes it is political terrorism,” Gore said Friday, speaking at the launch of the Brookings Institution’s Center for Effective Public Management in Washington. “Why does partisanship have anything to do with such a despicable and dishonorable threat to the integrity of the United States of America?”

“And now you want to threaten to not only shut down our government but to blow up the world economy unless we go back and undo what we did according to the processes of this democracy?” Gore said, referencing the Affordable Care Act. “How dare you?”

Gore also joked that he's a "recovering politician."

What makes me so mad about what Republicans are doing is that we had a full discussion in Congress about the bill before it was passed, starting back in 2008. We had two elections since then, and the Republicans have proposed no alternative that would really increase the availability of healthcare and health insurance for as many Americans as Obamacare will.

The Republicans have no alternative to Obamacare. They know that once it is in place it is going to be very popular. They lost the argument, and now they want to come back and spoil what they could not persuade us to reject.

They are sore losers. And they are wasting our time. They need to grow up.

the premise that we would put a plan in place, but then we actually followed through on it. It is just like Social Security, or Medicare fights of eras past. By the way, I am watching Al Gore right now on C-Span.
