the government is taking your tax dollars and giving them to minorities who are too lazy to get up off their ass and work for a living.

If you are a lower middle class white American, it's really easy for you to buy into that thinking. You aren't doing that well anyway and you think you're paying far more in taxes than you get in benefits and you don't really like minorities to begin with.

So it doesn't take a lot of convincing for you to believe that the government, particularly one controlled by Democrats, is engaging in this massive redistribution of wealth at your expense.

Oddly enough, they are taking your tax dollars and giving them to people who don't deserve them. But they aren't minorities, anyway most of them aren't. They're wealthy corporate executives, board members and bankers and they think you are an easily exploited sucker for giving them your money without a peep. Even as they continue to stroke your prejudices with more tales of undeserving minorities doing obscene things with your money.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
