It's all a big sham. They are NOT throwing their staffs under the bus...they want you to think so.

It's just a sham to get their base to think they are sacrificing something and are punishing WH staff by saying they want to remove all the subsidies for their staff and WH staff. When they take that sham of a bill to conference we all know that these provisions will be taken out. It's just a move to try to get more of the ditto head base to support them because they know how much their base hates to think that Federal workers and Congressional staff get any kind of special benefits. In conference they won't let that happen. You know damn well that they are not going to give up their own health care benefits.

Well two questions really.

1) do they really care about their staffs?

2) if they did, are they of sufficient means that they could take care of some of their staff?

As for it getting stripped out in committee, well I hope everything gets stripped out in committee and Obama is presented a clean resolution. There is no compromise with Republicans at this point, there is capitulation. If we choose to give the Republicans some of what they want in order to end the shut down - that's not compromise.

Can they get by with eliminating programs you do not want to fund by defunding those programs? Since you may never win another national election again under the current electoral system what methods and legislative tactics allows your faction to dominate Congress?

And it will force many staffers to chose between government and the private sector. They do this, many of them, mid range, will go to K street

Another step to weaken the government. It's not that complicated.

But hey, whatever
