Well Hawaii's healthcare site sure knows how to keep the curious out of the exchange website.

Last edited Wed Oct 2, 2013, 03:36 PM - Edit history (1)

Why isn't a cost estimator the first thing I see?

Maybe if the Feds had organized it we would have had consistently decent web design. As it was I looped around and around trying to find out where I was going.

No I didn't want to give all my info and be contacted personally...I just wanted to punch in some numbers to see how it all works.

Geez.

On edit: The plans aren't ready yet and that's why there is no cost estimator. Thanks to chowder66 below for the info.

I'm curious who is in our network and how many doctors are in, what the different coverages look like, what are the copays etc. Realistically can I say my employer would never seek to cut costs by dropping health care? I honestly have no idea. Once a competitor does it they all could.

I feel for a person who has never had insurance trying figure this all out. As a rule of thumb avoiding the lowest cost provider might be a good strategy. I have a feeling their network will be overwhelmed.

20+ hours and employers need to provide coverage. Our health care laws are exempt from parts of the ACA.

But the cost of living is atrocious. $650,000 median house price and that's not a big house either. Highest electricity prices, gas prices.

Crazy.

I got thru all of that, answered the security questions and it sent me the auto-validate email.
I clicked the link in the email to validate my account & it spun for a couple minutes, then errored out saying I didn't respond quickly enough, please start over.

Couldn't get anywhere yesterday - server not available, please wait we're busy, etc.

Today I finally got to the point of getting a confirmation email after signing up. In that email was a link that supposedly would take me to the exchange. Instead I got an "Access Denied" page. So I went back to try to log on in a different window, after waiting, and got "info you entered isn't accurate." So I tried again, same info I just used, same username and password I had just tried, and got "Downstream Error."

Like you, I just want to see what options I have and how much it will cost, then I can decide to opt in or opt out and pay the fine, and still be without insurance. Maybe tomorrow...
