Ann Romney: No Extortion Had You Elected Mitt.
by TomP
Look, you had your chance. Now you reap the consequences. We warned you. Elect Mitt or we will destroy America. You did not elect Mitt; you elected Barack Obama. Now America pays.
We would not be in a shutdown, Romney said on Fox Newss Fox and Friends.
The wife of the former Republican presidential nominee said that Mitt wouldve stopped Obamacare when asked her thoughts of the current situation in Washington.

The Republican Party is a continuing criminal enterprise.
Like a mob enforcer: You did not pay so we burn down your business.

Granted, the Tea-Had would be after him too, but Mitt would shovel them whatever they wanted. They would still impeahc him, so they could have put Paul Ryan on the throne.

(4,465 posts)Seriously! This sounds like little more than an admission of that. Wow.
The country re-elected Obama and the Supreme Court upheld ACA. America WANTED Obama as our President and We WANT the ACA! Where the fuck do you get off acting this way and thereby encouraging your base to do so as well!? When bUsh was appointed President back in 2000 the country actually had a REASON to be angry and the Democratic Leadership, for The Good of The Country, accepted it and moved on-you and your Party don't have a leg to stand on here! Move ON, ya fucking irresponsible gasbag.

(25,592 posts)To say nothing of the fact, that it was birthed in the Right-wing think tank, The Heritage Foundation.
It's something at least though, RC. Say what you will but it's helped a lot of people, or will. The electorate is changing everyday, becoming more engaged...in the meantime, it's better than nothing wouldn't you agree?
That fact though, that it's their idea, leads back to the extortionist admission on Queen Ann's part. Like I said, they don't have a leg to stand on here.

There has to be a limit to how many logical knots Republicans can tie themselves into in order to pretend they are not completely full of shit.

I'm not saying we would not have been attacked, I'm sure they would have tried but the events that happened that day would not have happened the way they did and our reaction would have been different under President Gore.
Either way I am glad her husband did not win the last election or the world would be in the first 3 months of WWIII. But I kind of like the President we elected he is one smart cookie.

(173 posts)of the election. Your incompetent, tax evading, slippery husband lost the election by 5 million votes and a whole lot of electoral votes.
The people sent you and Mittster packing back to count your offshore money.
The irony of this is that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, is a Heritage Foundation brainchild, implemented by your husband in MA (did you forget) also known as RomneyCare. But President Obama got the PPACA passed by Congress, upheld by the Supreme Court, funded by Congress and is the law of the land.
Your husband could not have repealed the PPACA without the consent of the Senate.
So keep dreaming and go back home and build your big house on the coast.

(50,562 posts)"If you would have just elected me and my husband instead of all those...what can I call them and not see 'Ann Romney is a Racist' stories in the papers tomorrow morning?...Congress wouldn't have had any reason to shut down the government because my husband would have given them everything they wanted, and I'd be Queen of America like I always dreamed of. I don't know why the little people are so in love with this those-people-care thing; don't they still have witch doctors and faith healers for people who can't afford Brigham and Women's out of their own pockets?"
Now let me ask ya something: Ann says that she'd like to invite everyone to sit at her table and have some coffee cake. What the hell do Mormons know about coffee cake?

Rich and irrelevant. Not even a MILF anymore. So sad.
She has a son, doesn't she, who really thought he could have cold-cocked the President after the President let Mitt make a fool of himself on TV. The President would not have needed the Secret Service to handle the punk. Would've been fun to watch, but i digress.
Mitt Romney -- he's the husband, I think. Ran a greed-mill and got vilely rich, I think. Screwed over a lot of "little people", bought a bunch of mansions and cars. Other than that, he never amounted to a hill of beans, otherwise. Should have married better. Maybe things would have worked out for him.

(4,465 posts)Or whether you'd like to fuck her or not? How does that fit into an adult discussion on a political forum?
I don't give a damn about who you personally find fuckable- frankly, if that's where your mind goes when a woman you disagree with speaks? not a good reflection of your character; the rest of your post defies that notion so, I'd appreciate it if you'd edit that bit of misogynistic commentary from your post.
RVN VET
(492 posts)Interesting that you were able to infer from my brief rant a misogynistic content that was, in fact, just not there.
I merely said of the good lady what happens to be true: she has nothing to add to the political discourse but blather about her husband. She remains loyal to him. That's probably a good thing, in its way. But she has shown a political ineptness in the past and a typically Republican callousness to human suffering and the struggles of the people she and the rest of her class (most of them, anyway) have never shared.
I bet she was a real sweetheart in college. She was an attractive woman who bore and raised 5 -- count 'em, 5! - sons. That, in itself, is noteworthy and deserving of respect -- and, as she is a mother, I respect her. But she is not a politician, nor is she capable of understanding the needs of most Americans, and her comments about how things would be better if only dear Mittens had been allowed to ascend to the Presidency, everything would be just oh so much better -- those comments are ignorant and shows she has learned nothing from defeat.
Yeah, maybe I should have added accolades about her motherhood while inveighing against her foolish and counter-productive comments about the current state of America -- a state in which her husband's party is showing its willingness to destroy the Government and with it the World's economy to win a point against a man whose major crime, it seems, is trying to guarantee health care for 10's of millions of Americans. But somehow, at the time I just wasn't thinking of what a great mom she must have been. i was thinking, however, of just how tragi-comically shallow a persona she has put forth to take a pot-shot at a man who bested her vilely rich husband both in politics and in humanity and compassion.
And I meant to say only that, as a political thinker, she is no longer even a pretty face. I know that's crude, but considering that the Party her husband led to defeat has portrayed our President as a bushman with bones through is knows and a girdle of bananas around his waist, I really don't feel my characterization was in any way out of proportion to those of president Obama that she and her dear Mittens have implicitly endorsed.
That said, I retract my comments about her physical appearance. They were written in anger. Mrs. Romney is, in fact, a nice looking lady.
And, please, get a grip. MILF means more -- and less -- than what your mind seems bent on construing it to mean. There's more than one definition, after all, for "intercourse."

(4,113 posts)They were born into wealth and privilege and never had to really think on issues related to how they financially make things work from one pay period to the next; from one month to the next; and so on. When they've wanted to make a major purchase, they never had to make a plan and set a timetable to achieve that goal; they could just up and buy it any time. I really think there's a significant percentage of our population running our country and their sympathizers who lack the ability to think past the end of their noses, and that's why we have the political climate we're in.
Hey Annie - the 2012 elections were largely a referendum on ACA. Obama was easily re-elected. Democrats retained control of the Senate and Republicans' hold on the House diminished. And ACA was upheld by a conservative SCOTUS. If you're too dumb to figure all of this out, then thank God you're not our First Lady and your husband is not POTUS. Maybe we wouldn't have all of this gridlock we're experiencing now, but we would likely have reached the tipping point of class warfare and rioting from all of the programs your husband's administration would have proposed as President.
