Would it not make sense to be kind to those who will soon outnumber you and live among you?

Would it not make sense to be kind to the families and extended families of those who serve you, take care of your children, work in you businesses, care and teach your children while in school, drive your children to and from school, serve you food and drinks, and may in some cases provide you your health care and in some cases perform major parts of the operation that your high-priced surgeon get the credit for?

There seems to be a great disconnect within the race we call "human." I just don't get some people.

That sounds logical but that's not the way we are wired el_bryanto Oct 2013 #1

If you take advantage of other people you come to see them as deserving it; it's the way of disconnecting your actions from your perception of yourself. The more you take advantage of people around you or are cruel to them - the greater the disconnect between what you think you are and what you actually are the more you end up demonizing those who you are taking advantage of.

Fortunately the opposite is true; the more kind you are to people the more you end up liking them (unless they are real assholes).

The human race must change from being competitive with each other (which we are taught from birth), to cooperating with each other. Otherwise we'll destroy ourselves and be responsible for our own extinction. Suicide of a species.
