Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI'd say there's a 50-50 chance Lindsey is preening his feathers for a Trump/Graham 2024 ticket.
Setting aside the reality versus fantasy aspect of it ever happening at all, there's this:
"Uh, no," Graham replied. "In terms of the law, no. He bears responsibility of pushing narratives about the election that I think are not sound and not true. But this was politically protected speech. The speech on Jan. 6th was not an incitement of violence."
Before ending the interview Graham insisted that Trump and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, are the "future" of the Republican Party.

...and WHATEVER you think about Pence, I'd be stunned in disbelief if he would go for round 2 (or if Trump would want him at all after failing his "loyalty" oath. I'm still of the belief that a 2024 run will be too much work and too much money for Trump. I can see him "fundraising" for it and pocketing all of the money, and not going the distance. Then again, he has a pathological obsession with "revenge," so it would be obsession versus sloth until one won over.

(58,785 posts)Take out Graham, Trump and any GOP majorities. This is the GOP nightmare after all: their primary voters nominate Trump again. If not Lindsey's not loony enough to sign on, how about Sidney Powell to draw the women's vote?

(22,327 posts)It seemed like a bad joke. And I think in the long run, McConnell's calculations will override the resurgence of the MAGA crap. As much as Graham may call the crime family the future of the party, January 6th isn't going to vanish that quick. I'm hesitant to make any predictions. I still believe that Trump's inherent laziness will override an actual run. I think he'll fundraise for it and pocket the $$$$$ and that's as far as it will go.

(22,327 posts)It's a matter of "does thirst for "revenge" win out over the amount of effort it would take," versus simply fundraising for it and pocketing the money. I think Graham would love it. It's a coin toss for me as to whether Trump would put in the effort and spend the money, versus just keeping it.
What I WILL guarantee, without reservation, is that he'll be "fundraising" for SOMETHING. It will be another scam, one way or another, but the easiest way for him to rake in mountains of cash is announcing a "2024 run" to the MAGATs. And I don't believe the "We trusted him and he let us down" crap for a second. The minute he announces a "rally"...and he'll charge for tickets...they will all be there.

(40,830 posts)I mean, look how it turned out for Jeff Sessions, Mike Pence, Steve Bannon, Bill Barr, Reince Priebus, John Kelly, General Mattis or any of the dozens of people who have enabled Chump in the last 5 years. Despite their original intentions, it has ended badly for all of them in one way or another. Most of them were fired, and those who weren't have had their reputations tarnished beyond recognition.
Who would even want to see Chump run again EVER? I'm including Repukes in this, what do they have to gain by choosing him as their nominee in 2024? It would be insanity.
