The Mexican Cartels run an intelligence gathering system that would rival the KGB.

We know that they keep track of shift changes at Border Patrol Stations, travel times to key areas, what areas have sensors, the response time from triggering sensors in one area to response time in others, including during shift changes. They know that border patrol agent dogs are trained in Dutch and learn the appropriate commands if they are isolated with a dog.

We know that they keep track of Customs officers at the ports and who is working which lane, when the last mass rush was (computer picks the next 30 cars to secondary), which Customs officers are finishing a 16 hour day and when the line is causing such a back up that they have a better chance to get waived through, and that Customs officers dogs are trained in English.

Today Border Patrol Agents and Customs Officers will be putting in long shifts, some up to 16 hours. Their ACH deductions for their mortgage payments, car payments, insurance plans will continue to be deducted from their accounts.

No pay was deposited into their accounts but they did receive an "IOU".

Now if you are a Border Patrol Agent that just ran two miles in the mountains around Sierra Vista, AZ and with your partner got a group of 16 to stop now how motivated would you be to continue to run another 2-3 miles at 3 in the morning to pursue the 3 hardcore Cartel professionals that ran ahead when you caught up with the domestic and restaurant workers. How well is a Customs officer going to concentrate on the line of people pressing him when he has checks bouncing in his account.


Well the Republicans who are SO concerned with Border security have left these professionals with IOUs instead of paychecks and are left on their knees with this:
