http://www.ktnv.com/news/local/Lake-Mead-Property-Owners-Forced-Out-Until-Gov-Shutdown-Ends-226557661.html?lc=SmartTHIS is what the shutdown is causing. Real pain, right now. People have to leave their private homes that are on public land. Send this to Boehner and ever puke thats defying the will of the people and our President. Not that it will help. My hate for these idiots grows more fervent by the day.

(68,644 posts)1. By law, these are not primary residences; they are, in fact, second or third homes, vacation homes.
From the story in the OP:
The Lake Mead properties are considered vacation homes; one of the lease requirements to own a plot is people must have an alternative residence.
Possibly, people have found loopholes and gotten around that requirement, but that would fly in the face of the intent of the development.
So, color me skeptical unless I hear something more substantial.

The Feds are forced to take this action if the government is closed down. And people are hurt by it. Its just like how the Federal Government is forced to restrict access to Mt. Rushmore, and multiple parks. The Republicans whine about the impact, but who do they think runs these facilities?? The tooth fairy???

(68,644 posts)3. People are definitely being hurt by this ridiculous move by Republicans, no doubt about that.
It's just that the case of people having to vacate their vacation homes isn't as dire as having to leave their primary residences, which is not something that is happening anywhere, as far as I know.
