An Important Sign that The Mainstream Media Has Shifted.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/06/bob-schieffer-john-cornyn_n_4054600.html

Bob Schieffer has challenged Cornyn on Obamacare

Bob Schieffer confronted John Cornyn for a moment in the above interview with the hostage word. Schieffer is the mainstream media at CBS..and this was no mistake. In a piece that has been put up here in this forum, by Fumesucker, Paul Krugman argues that there has been a shift to more equal coverage or certainly fair coverage in this crises. The teaparty fools probably are realizing it now, and they need to deal to deal with it. They have even lost their total support of people like Schieffer. They need that support to make their position legitimate. If the media has shifted on this one, and sees the danger of Cruz and his ilk, then their game is over. I believe that others in the mainstream media will take this position as we close in on default. The right wing crazies will seen standing with no clothes. It is about time..

Here are links to Fumesucker's post and the Krugman article too

1. I do not agree. They are still giving more opportunity to the rethugs to misrepresent and lie

without any significant challenge, and still building a false equivalency.

It is as if their has been a subtle shift. I have noticed far fewer headlines that equalize the GOPs stance with Obama's..That is at NBC News..The equalization factor has shifted in my opinion.. It is a slow shift, but it is there and Sheiffer is the leader..

ask. It is a friendly environment where they can spin away legit questions.

MSM is not part of the solution. It is part of the problem. The MSM is doing it's job for those that own it. That job is bascially 1) to sell audiences to advertisers, and 2) to frame issues and events in ways that favor the limited range of actions and "solutions" they want. Those who want facts and honest debate should look elsewhere.

4. That was no "confrontation"

Shit-ffer let him go on and on and on with bullshit talking points without answering any of the questions.

It is the job of CONGRESS to hold hearings, draft/mark-up legislation, vote it out of committee, bring it to the floor for further debate and passage (or rejection), and if passed, have it passed in both chambers, and then send it to the President. The President can either agree with it and sign it or disagree with it and veto it. If vetoed, Congress can decide whether to leave it at that or override the veto (requiring 2/3rds of each of the chambers).

This is basic Civics, how a bill becomes a law, and the role of the 3 branches of government. This thing about the President's job being to "negotiate" with them before they pass a bill is complete bullshit.

Rethugs need to do their fucking jobs and so does the media.

5. Ibelieve the change is has happened.

It did not look like a major confrontation but it is the start. People watching will remember that hostage question that Schieffer asked.
Response was not that important in my opinion. It is like a huge aircraft carrier that in now going to turn into a new direction totally different from where it was going. So, you don't see it immediately, but I believe it has happened. We will see.

12. He's comes from the "old school" media

twice passed over for a major anchor spot at CBS. So it's like he's an old declining potted plant that has seen alot over the years and knows how the growth process works, but doesn't care anymore.

The "change" is coming from the people who are GOP members themselves. When I see folks posting anecdotes of friends, coworkers, neighbors who have had enough - THAT is what I am looking to because those are often folks who if still somewhat committed to the party, will stay home and if planning to leave, will become "independent" and may vote for another independent or a Democrat.

The teabagger-crazy supporters are still a small % of the total electorate and some are concentrated in certain districts. But they are by no means dominant in all districts and it's those disgusted rethugs that Democrats need to keep in mind.... Get some good candidates to run and get OUR turnout up so we can retake the House.

I could point to 20 others that I saw just last night flipping around the channels. Especially on mainstream local nightly news and not even partisan cable news.

Lots of uncontested clips of GOP reps and Senators blaming this on the president, with no clarification or fact checking or anything from the "news" people.

Mainstream local news will be last. But I believe that this is happening and the shift will continue. Corporations do not want default, and they will prevent default. They will un legitimize the right wing crazies in the same way that they made them. But it will not be totally obvious.

to raise the debt ceiling will cut into their profits. They are starting to get cold feet. The teabagging Brown Shirts have done their job and now it's time for the SS to get rid of them.

There may be a shift in media coverage but the righties still rely on Faux News. Mainstream Media is meaningless so long as the teabaggers have Faux and Brietbart reinforcing their views

I continue compiling a lot of recent graphic activity in these two threads:

ONE BILLION DOLLARS and counting = Current Cost of Boehner's Shutdown

"Tell me to get my head out of my ass."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023798281

There has been a huge uptick in petitions in my inbox too.

I'm also noting a shift in vehemence. People, including Republicans, are turning very angry with the Republicans. The independents are truly being turned blue by the redcoats.
