Breaking.Majority of House appears to support ‘clean’ continuing resolution bill

All but five House Democrats have signed a letter urging House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) to allow a vote on a "clean" continuing resolution bill, meaning the legislation appears to have the support of a majority of House members.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) released the letter, which bears the signatures of 195 of the chamber's 200 Democrats.
"We demand a vote on a clean continuing resolution immediately so that government functioning can resume and Americans can move on with their lives," the members said.
Combine those 195 Democrats with the 22 House Republicans who have signaled support for a clean resolution, and you get 217 members, which is a bare majority of the chamber's 432 members.

Now they have the GOPers saying there is no such thing as a debt ceiling crisis. I hope the 1%ers get there come uppings.

A DU-er suggest this elsewhere.

Hold a mock vote. Your 217 members of Congress assemble en masse to represent the vote they would cast on a CR.

That would be newsworthy.

And it would be irrefutable!

Here's another idea... instead of fantasizing about those in power actually reading and taking to heart our suggestions, why don't we stage the theater ourselves? All we need are volunteers to stand proxy for all of the congressmen and women who have agreed to vote yes on a clean CR. Assign a name to each volunteer, set up on the Capitol steps and we can call the roll and vote their proxies.

Kill two birds, change the meme in the media and shame the shit out of the congress.

Who lives close enough to DC to make this happen... or perhaps we could make this happen online?

Try calling Pelosi's office but add one to the last digit of the phone #. My husband and I have had great success with this technique calling a slew of asshat teabagger's. They all seem confused as to how the call reached them - "did you get transferred in"?

Not only do you and I know it, but John Boehner knows it. And the Teahadists know it and they know that Boehner knows it. Which is why if Boehner allows it today then Eric Cantor will be Speaker of the House tonight.

Which might be a relief to Mr. Boehner in that he would no longer have to answer to the lunatics in his asylum. He made this bed, now he can sleep in it.
