If default is "no big deal," then why is GOP using it to extort concessions from POTUS?

If GOP contends that default is no big deal, why would they expect Obama to give them anything in exchange for avoiding it??? Why avoid it if it is, in fact, no big deal???

THE GOP POSITION MAKES NO SENSE.

Maybe they're taking financial advise from Donald Trump who's declared bankruptcy multiple times.

What I do hear them saying is the 17th is not a big deal or an exact date of going off a cliff.
