Dems could win both chambers of Congress in 2014--how do we keep corp Dems from blowing it?

The little daylight between the corporate wing of the Democratic Party and Republicans is probably what led to Dems losing the house in 2010.

For some core constituencies like teachers, even though we know the Dems are better than republicans, the "put corporate profits ahead of teachers and students" approach to education reform makes us feel like idiots for doing much work for them it's like your only choice is between dating someone who beats you with a baseball bat and someone who only beats you with their fists.

The corporate wing could blow this in two ways:
1. putting up candidates who don't highlight their differences with the GOP and instead try to co-opt their agenda

2. Getting elected but then going corporate once in office, dampening Democratic prospects for 2016

Far more importantly, besides making the horse race unnecessarily close, either option will hurt most of us A LOT.

We can't afford another Democratic president or members of Congress who make Nixon look like a socialist.

What can we do?

4. if you mean in the primary, correct--but how do you keep enough people from voting for them?

9. Well therein lies the problem.

By the time we get to vote--even in the primaries--the appropriately corporatist candidates are already preselected for us.

10. the DLC and neoliberal trojan horse parties elsewhere make collapse of our democracy and even

civilization itself more likely since people can't vote themselves out of corporate rule.

The whole system will come down before we can do much to fix it.

2. Insist, no Grand Deals by Obama and the Dem leadership,and hold their feet to the fire.

3. Obama and the Dem leadership seem to have a unique kind of deafness

they can't hear the people who voted them into office, just those who made large donations.

6. Gold coins in their ears.

If they don't stop NOT listening to the base, it may be coins on their eyes as far as any further volunteer campaign work on their behalf.

8. Obama is Wayne Brady to the right, and evil Wayne Brady to the left

7. Victory is seldom gained by "trying not to blow it."

The House will be won back through an aggressive campaign that has Demo principles and priorities at its base. Anything short of that and it's R-lite time.
