I contacted my Representative to urge him to allow a clean CR to open the government and raise the debt ceiling. As you will be able to tell I live in a Republican District.
He thanked me for contacting him and expressing my views, stated that the House had approved legislation which would end the shutdown and that the House had addressed this in the past through good faith negotiations and hoped the Senate and President would engage with the House to bring a satisfactory conclusion. He then stated that the debt was too big to ignore and if we would address this it would bring immediate economic benefits.
Basically Republican BS. I am not a bit surprised by his reply, it is similar to the letter I get each time I contact his office. The bad thing is my Representative is not a teabagger, I can only imagine the replies from one of those Representatives.
By the way he didn't bring up Obamacare at all.
Just wondering is this the type form letter other Democrats who write Republican Representatives get in reply?

(45,806 posts)and I've lived in 3 other States since. Unfortunately, all of the 3 are in the South! I've talked, argued, threatened never to vote for them again, and everything else I could think of to make to make them see the other side for once, and not all the replys are "form letters". I suspect most of if not all were answered by staff. The problem we have is that although our letters are opposing the Rep's position, I think the get hundreds of ltrs praising them for their vote.
