Then again, it does indicate that I only have a "few" strong opinions, and am pretty forgiving in most things. So, I guess that's that.

I suppose I could take the test again and see if I come up with the same responses. But, of course, now I kind of know what they're looking for and that would color my answers.

(38,206 posts)I don't have a problem with it, except the land ownership thing. I sure don't think capitalism is doing much for most of us nowadays anyhow. About the land ownership thing, I just finally got my little hovel in a jungle paid off and love trying to be a good steward of the jungle and this little hovel. I enjoy the place too much to give it up. So, that part of communism would definitely NOT work for me. That capitalism run rampant (profits over people, the rich feeding off the poor like bloodsuckers, people working full time and still needing to get on food stamps just to survive because we have no living wage, etc), which seems to be the state of capitalism today, has not been good for a lot of people. That would be the most accurate opinion I could express of it as of right now.

(7,549 posts)My family were farmers and our land has been in our family for years. I don't think anyone should be allowed to take that away. We have always paid our taxes on time, proudly, and without protest.
My basic theory is all people in a society should have access to what they need for basic survial like food, clothing, shelter(with proper heat/cooling) health care and I'd aruge education. I think the government and private sector have a duty to provide these things at least at a basic sustaining level to those who cannot afford it on their own due to old age, disabiilty, undereducation, or to all who are unemployed through no fault of their own in difficult economic periods. Basically what we had except for the health care part under well regulated capitalism.
It's funny some people now equate that with communism.
We can provide for the basics for those in need through fair taxation, but the problem is the rich asses don't even want that. There is no way 99 percent of the wealth should be at the top alone which is what poorly regulated capitalism has given us.
When I have shared this theory with some of my family they ask where is the incentive to work?
I said this is where the wants come in. If you want a new e gadget, fancy clothes, a nice car, new furniture, you should absolutely still have to work to get those, and the private sector gets their profit on that stuff.
Plus most people if they have a choice I believe want to do something productive or they get bored.
This is all JMHO.
Jamastiene
(38,206 posts)That would be a great system. People do, ultimately, want things for fun in addition to the things they need for survival. Plus, people do like to have things to do to keep busy. It would be a great system. I would love to see this idea tried at some point.

The questions made me think about some things, such as "compulsory military service." It got me thinking, well, what about the pacifists? And so, we could have compulsory Peace Corps service. Imagine what that would do to our country's population and attitudes socially. All those dicks we had to go to school with would have to learn how to work with people in order to help them. We might even become less war-mongering overall

Unlike many other political tests found on the Internet which base themselves on untested (and usually ideologically motivated) ideas, this inventory is adapted from Hans Eysenck's own political inventory which was developed after extensive empirical investigations in the 20th Century.

Take it twice. First time, answer like an theocrat, then try it as an athiest. Religious Conservatives will always come out as tender hearted and caring and us liberals and non-theists come out as cold hearted bastards.
Just look at everyones low tenderness scores! We are ranging from 40-60 for tenderness. Something is wrong here.

I agree with this completely. I suppose I used to qualify as a Centrist. But not out of political expediency. There are just certain times on certain issues where I agree with someone with whom I radically disagree most of the time.
I say "used to" because the Republics have become so extreme that I can't recall the last time one of them said something on which I could agree. If anything, as a die-hard Centrist, I am well to the Left of the Democratic Party leadership.

These scores indicate that you are a progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a university professor. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a pragmatic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as left-wing.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a devoted egalitarian with primarily strong opinions.
This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.http://slackhalla.org/~demise/test/socialattitude.php
I don't care for the questions about emotion. It seems they assume all emotion which could interfere with decision-making would be on the mushy side. But hate and anger are also emotions which can interfere with decisions. Take Republicans in Congress for example... Fear, too. Fear of the tea party if they're not tea party themselves. Hate and anger if they are tea party, on top of being stupid and greedy.

side note;
I don't consider my economic beliefs to be communist, but much more of a socialist democrat/green.
The labeling language is questionable.

Unlike many other political tests found on the Internet which base themselves on untested (and usually ideologically motivated) ideas, this inventory is adapted from Hans Eysenck's own political inventory which was developed after extensive empirical investigations in the 20th Century.
