The strongest typhoon to reach Tokyo in 10 years was expected to slam into the region with full force Wednesday morning, the Meteorological Agency said.

That's about all I can say....

"we are making preparations for proper management of contaminated water"

They don't have a handle on the disaster right now, it's laughable they made that statement. They've lied repeatedly about the disaster from the beginning....this is actually quite terrifying.

when all the news was about typhoon Phailin, I looked at the NOAA global satellite web site:

http://www.aviationweather.gov/obs/sat/intl/

And noticed that there were actually THREE big storms all in a row, Phailin furthest west, another just south of China and this one South of Japan - very dense and seriously dangerous looking - and wondered if it would be heading toward the very area it's now predicted to hit.

Geeze I wonder if our species is heading down the extinction tube with lubricant at this point. That's going to be a major concern for those of us who actually pay attention... yikes.

Typhoon brings high winds, heavy rain to Tokyo, vicinity

Kyodo

Oct 16, 2013

Typhoon Wipha brought strong winds and heavy rain to Tokyo and its vicinity early Wednesday morning, halting part of the transportation systems in the metropolitan area.

The season’s 26th typhoon may get closer to the Kanto region centering on Tokyo later in the day, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency to warn residents of strong winds, high waves and inundation in a broad range of areas in the storm’s path.

On Izu Oshima Island, in the Pacific about 120 kilometers south of Tokyo, a record 122.5 millimeters rainfall per hour was registered, according to the agency. Precipitation in 24 hours exceeded 750 mm there.

The Metropolitan Police Department said it had received a call that three homes were washed away by a swollen river near Oshima town on the island.

As of 6 a.m., Wipha was moving northeast at around 60 kph around 60 km east of Miyake Island in the Izu island chain south of Tokyo. It had an atmospheric pressure at its center of 955 hectopascals and was packing winds of up to 180 kph near its center.
