One Republican Caused the Shutdown.

That was Boehner, he wouldn't allow a vote because either he was too spineless or he was just using the rabid minority of Republicans 25 or so as a fig leaf in playing the passive agressive role to get maximum leverage in negotiating with the Democrats.

That's not to say, they all shouldn't be held accountable but in regards to this issue, "the buck stopped" with Boehner.

The deal on the face of it looks like the Republicans came out pretty well in so far as the amount in the spending bill being just barely above Ryan's lowest proposal, we have a graph floating around here somewhere reflecting that.

The Speaker of the House, John Boehner, refused to let the house speak for themselves. He silenced the majority. He denied the people of this nation the vote that we all richly deserved.

The denial party as a whole, may they rot in hell.

Excellent OP, Uncle Joe. I thank you.

KICK!

The House GOP leadership's use of the Hastert Rule and H. Res 368 to shut down the government AND prevent anyone from using their "privilege" to bring the vote up EXCEPT the Majority Leader at the 11th hour when they thought Boehner might cave SWITCHES major responsibility to Cantor.

They should BOTH go down, but after the reThugs changed rules, it was all Cantor's fault.

When you have a car accident, there is a way they determine who is at fault and one thing they look at is who had the last clear chance to avoid the accident? When the rule was changed to deny proper DEMOCRATIC process; that left one guy, Cantor. He was at the wheel knitting a sweater when we hit the wall.

Boehner certainly should have stood up and did the right thing earlier, but look at what happened to Arlen Specter. He stood up to his party and the White House from the Senate Judiciary Committee and promptly got fired by his party and we didn't help him much either. So it goes to show if you grow a conscience and come over from the dark to the light, you still will get punished by both parties.

I will say this, in my history book Arlen Specter may have done a lot of wrong headed stuff but at one point he stopped and then did the right thing. HE went toe to toe to try and keep JUSTICE from being a mockery in the US. I still applaud the courage it took him to stand up for state attorneys fired unjustly, for pure political reasons.

numbered. if he were out in front like boner is now.. then maybe the country could put his face on the republicon party and not John's drunken face.

I don't see how cantor could cause anymore damage than boner did? But, of course I could be wrong.

They didn't believe ANY of the dire warnings about the debt ceiling.

To them "raising the debt ceiling" is giving Obama even MORE money to give away as welfare.

Because,....you know,...they can't look at a black guy without thinking "welfare".
