Unfortunately, self-superiority and axe grinding all too often gets confused with "activism", and there are just way too many fundamentally miserable folks whose primary means of escaping their personal unhappiness seems to be to pepper others with endless boring, pompous lectures.

I eat dead animals. I've even killed a few in order to eat 'em. I know that upsets people some people, and, well... I guess they'll be upset. I see no point to rub it in their faces, and if i know, I try real hard to be polite about it in fact, because people deserve respect, even if I don't share their beliefs, right?

What bugs me are people who think meat just magically appears on a styrofoam tray. I know damn well where my food comes from, and it's not by the wishes of the steak fairy. That apathetic or avoidant ignorance is a root cause of the problems in the industry, the attrude of "if I don't think about it then it's not there."

But this is from the original posting that I paraphrased:

"The SAD diet is designed to make us sick WITHOUT killing us right away. Its fine if we die several years down the road, after they've milked our sick asses for all we're worth. When we are bankrupt from our ill health brought on by our diet of fake 'food', then corporate America throws us to the lions and we die a miserable death, bankrupted because we're kicked off our for-profit "health insurance". Once we're bankrupt, we're no longer useful, err profitable to the profit scheme known as the modern American 'healthcare' system."

"If I were a sociopathic capitalist, I'd pick pharmaceuticals as my profit method. I'd collude with food giants. We'd work together to unleash GMO's laced with toxic pesticides that also are taken up by the roots of the plants that don't just wash off. You can't wash all of the pesticide residue off of a conventionally grow(non-organic) food. Much of the poison is absorbed into the plant from its surfaces or imbedded via root absorption."

"Conventional(non-organic) produce is a maker of sickness."

I see this once in a great while from vegans, this "look-down-their-noses" attitude towards those like myself who still love meat and dairy.

I call it "vegan evangelism," since some vegans look at us meat-eaters like we are SINNERS!!!

Fortunately most vegans and vegetarians aren't like this.

But that whole discussion takes me back to my original point. If somebody has a bug up their butt about what they think other people ought to be eating, maybe it's best to just shrug it off. They can't make you give up bacon, and trying to guilt people into changing their diets is rarely effective - it's just annoying. I'd rather not be annoyed. Yes, evangelical vegans are irritating, but evangelical anythings are irritating. I prefer to just walk away.

Smokers are charged a lot more because they raise all rates.

So that door is open. Why shouldn't those that eat foods that cause heart disease, high cholesterol or other known problems pay more? And why stop there? Insurance companies effectively run the health industry now. You can bet they will be busy thinking up new ways to save money.

That's one of the biggest problems with the ACA. It does next to nothing to actually bring down the absurdly high cost of health CARE.

to not eating bacon, they've made it a mission to convince other people to not eat bacon. Which means more bacon for me and thee.

So, why would I want to say "Fuck you!" to this group of evangelists? I'm more inclined to built them a celebratory statue (out of all vegan materials, natch, with an adjoining snack bar serving vegan snacks).

(Setting aside, of course, the question of why I'd feel hostile or "fuck you"-inspired toward folk who after all are only espousing - whether or not I agree in specifics - a philosophy that is perfectly consistent with left-leaning principles - social, environmental, etc ...)

Granted, the line between dinosaur and bird has gotten to the point where we might actually have to start considering some dinosaurs to actually be birds. either way, they're archosaurs - wild to think that your pet parakeet is more closely related to an alligator than to anything else that isn't a bird, huh?
