I have officially seen it all: Vagina cakes for baby showers

Seriously? We have women all over the world who can barely find enough food for themselves, never mind the baby they are delivering in squalor, and people in this country are making vagina cakes?

Somebody PLEASE tell me this is a hoax.

(Yes as a medic in the Mexican Red Cross I helped deliver a few babies, or as I like to call it, assisted mom in her pushing the baby out. When there are no complications we are there as the ra ra team. Now we had complications a couple of times, and those WERE SCARY MOMENTS for all concerned)

The baby cakes were creepy enough.

I'm sure there are feminists who are far purer than I am who find this sort of thing a celebration of womanhood.

Thanks anyway, but I prefer the ones from a gentler era, when there were frosting booties on top or something equally cutesy.

I suppose there will be afterbirth cakes next. And yes, I've already seen one.

and irrelevant.

I mean, by that logic, ANY cake for a baby shower would be a problem, because there are women and babies in squalor. Not just a vagina cake.

I think the objections to this are probably aesthetic, not to mention the serious medical and biological inaccuracy.

But I have to believe someone is putting someone on. Or else they've got a wicked sense of humor.

they have nine more cakes in a similar vein, so not a joke.

A celebration of a coming birth with friends and a cake? Not really a problem, nor terribly expensive. But to expend 3-5 times the financial resources on that monstrosity...

IMO.

Anybody ever actually SEEN a baby being born?

Of course!

There is no way on earth a full term baby's head is that much smaller than the "door" he's passing through.

If that cake is disturbing, the reality would be way more disturbing if it were portrayed correctly.

That being said, though...

I love cake. I'd probably ask for a piece with the most frosting on it.

PS..and on closer examination, it looks like the baby's head is emerging from the labia minora, not the actual vaginal opening below it.
