Petition DEMANDS THE END Of Ted Cruz In The Senate

"...Who pushed for the government shutdown? Ted Cruz did. Who urged House Republicans to initiate the shutdown? Ted Cruz did. Who convened a secret meeting with Tea Party Republicans to make sure the shutdown continued? Ted Cruz did. Who called for blowing past the debt ceiling even though it would hurt the economy? Ted Cruz did. And who intends to cause another shutdown in January? Again, that would be Ted Cruz. Because of his role in the government shutdown that lasted 16 days and cost America $24 billion, a petition has sprung up calling upon the US Senate to expel Cruz from their ranks..."

The Senate can expel Ted Cruz according to the Constitution

It’s not an impossible task either. According to Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2 of the Constitution,

“Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.”

Considering the fact that the Texas Republican has drawn the ire of many of his Senate colleagues for damaging the party, enough votes for expulsion could certainly be mustered.

There are many reasons why the Senate should expell Ted Cruz

There are many reasons why Cruz should be expelled. He took his obsession to derail Obamacare too far. He opposed the original clean budget bill that was passed by the Senate with bipartisan support. He then worked up House Republicans to stand their ground until their demand to defund the health care law was met by Democrats. At the urging of Cruz, they shut the government down and threatened to let the nation default on the debt. As a result, 800,000 federal workers were laid off, businesses lost money, hungry families were deprived of food assistance, children were deprived of school, and the full faith and credit of the United States was placed in jeopardy. Cruz even held a secret meeting with Tea Party members of the House to make sure they stand their ground no matter what. Even if the country crashed all around them. The shutdown ended, of course, as did the debt ceiling crisis. Democrats and moderate Republicans joined together to pass a budget extension that lasts until January. They also raised the debt ceiling until February. And even though great damage was done to the country and to the Republican Party, Ted Cruz has vowed to shut the government down and take us to the brink of disaster again this winter. That’s precisely why a petition was created on Moveon.org to urge Senators to prevent such a disaster from falling upon the nation again.

A petition is circulating calling upon the Senate to expel Ted Cruz to prevent another shutdown

The petition, which you can sign states:

“Senator Ted Cruz’s leading role in leveraging the government shutdown based on his irresponsible and dangerous agenda in an attempt to defund the ACA has inflicted reprehensible devastation upon the American people and the nation’s economy. His obvious lack of remorse for his actions with his subsequent messages that he “would continue to do anything he can, to stop the train wreck that is Obamacare” is further reason to expel this senator before he paves the way to yet another destructive government shutdown.”

It’s certainly possible that the Senate could punish Cruz in some way, and they should. He conspired with Tea Party Republicans to hold America hostage to achieve a policy goal that had nothing to do with the budget or the debt ceiling. He and his cohorts threatened the economic security of the United States and damaged our reputation around the world in order to take health care away from the American people. The Affordable Care Act was legally passed by Congress, signed by the President, and ruled constitutional by the Supreme Court. House Republicans failed to repeal it forty times using the normal and accepted congressional process. Cruz, however, used a reprehensible and dangerous tactic to force the Democrat controlled Senate and the White House to capitulate to GOP demands. As such, Cruz is guilty of seditious conspiracy under the US Code, which makes him unfit to remain in the US Senate.

...who willingly tried to destroy the country to bring down a law they disagree with. Another petition called for arresting and charging Tea Party Republicans with sedition for conspiring to put the country in harms way to force the repeal of the health care law. By law,

“If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to… prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States… they shall each be fined or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.”

By holding America hostage over Obamacare, Republicans blatantly broke the law. They could have just passed the clean CR and moved on but they didn’t. Instead, they tried to “prevent, hinder, or delay the execution” of the law.

4. Plus, Ted Cruz may not even be an American citizen.

He was born in Canada to a Canadian mother and a Cuban father. Unless we consider all Cuban ex-Patriots to be American I don't see how Cruz qualifies to sit in the senate.

Maybe not in Texas, granted, but nationwide, Cruz is a fundraising gift that will keep on giving.
