Our police departments have been militarized. One out of four American children now lives in poverty. Our child poverty rate is higher than in any "rich" nation except Romania, which should not even be on the list. More than half of American schoolchildren count as low income now. Pensions are being looted. Not only have bankers gotten away with their looting, we recently had a bipartisan vote to gut more financial regulations. Suicide rates in this country are skyrocketing. We are low on virtually every list of well-being in "rich" nations. And all these problems are getting worse rather than better.

They are getting worse because of policy, not magic. We have two corporate parties driving this nation into the ground, and there is no end in sight to the looting.

Stop blaming people who want to talk about what is desperately wrong in this country.

On the other hand, I've seen other long-term DUers say many times they like the US and wish things could improve in the areas where it lags behind other developed nations not get any negative reaction, so trying to portray DU as a nest of America-haters isn't correct at all...
