Another senator will back up Sen. Dick Durbin's (D-IL) account of an alleged exchange between President Barack Obama and a House Republican, according to MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski.
Brzezinski said on-air Thursday that after reaching out to Durbin's office, a spokesperson reiterated that the senator stands by his claim and that a colleague will "verify" his account. "His spokesman says the senator is standing by the claim and said that another senator today will verify Durbin's story," Brzezinski said.
Durbin wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday that during a recent closed-door meeting, a House Republican told Obama, "I cannot even stand to look at you." White House spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday that after talking to a participant in the meeting, the alleged exchange "did not happen." House leadership also repudiated Durbin's claim and demanded an apology.

(12,504 posts)I'm inclined to believe it happened.
Carney, (the mouth piece of Obama and realizing Obama's penchant for downplaying insults to move an agenda along rather than get stuck in a quagmire of finger pointing), would not want to draw attention and never has to these insults. I'm not surprised they won't draw attnetion to these idiots acting like idiots.
Obama has been treated very poorly and it's rubbing off on the RW constituency. They see these acts from their elected officials, and feel they may also repeat it. Hence the empty char hanging from nooses, overt personal insults and name calling on the whole family all over the web. The Reps have defined that the office of a Dem President doesn't garner any respect at all...not even the courtesy of being polite during a disagreement.

(13,877 posts)arse, what with Confederate flags...says it all...and it was not soundly condemned by the Republicans...even the so-called Moderate ones. Like someone said earlier, they've just updated their wardrobes.

(338 posts)You can barely get 83 senators to agree on anything, but Durbin went against the tide. I will always respect him for saying this at the time:
"Congress should not, because of the misconduct of those ACORN employees who have now been terminated, permanently deny assistance to thousands of families who have been receiving ACORN's help..."
This "I can't stand to look at you" incident might be true, but I notice Democrats and Republicans want to sweep it away. I am always worried when both sides completely agree on something or gang up together, probably means something bad happened or is going to happen.

(45,319 posts)had committed any misconduct and that the O'Keefe tapes that caused the uproar were a bunch of faked up hooey. So he only got it part right and still maligned innocent people on the word of a criminal crank.

(338 posts)DU is a wonderful place. Reading that gave me great pleasure. Those are the facts. O'keefe had to pay a former employee $800,000 because the employee rightfully sued for defamation. O'keefe chopped up those videos and hurt innocent employees.
Thank you so much for your reply.
