(52,155 posts)to insure. I assume they aren't trying to discourage people from growing old, and they are allowing age to be used as a factor in rates. It also is very easy to verify smoking unlike some other risk factors.

(33,224 posts)Personally, I think that it was prudent to remove gender as a rating criteria, but it has the effect of raising mens insurance 15% and lowering women's 15%.

Healthy babies grow into healthy adults who contribute to social security...but lets not look that far down the road, much more fun to be shortsighted and complain that someone is "getting over" on the system!
