I just saw an ad on TV last night for Khan Academy, too (one of the big banks has teamed up with them.)

I would add Free Rice to that list as well a The Internet Archive

I've been in a rut lately, not finding fresh sites to amuse and invigorate. That's a good list.

Tried the "spreed" speed reading out a bit. I think I can actually do that, with some practice.

I used to have access to the print version at a job, so I was happy when it appeared online.

Pages and pages of demographic, economic, political, etc. data on every single country in the world.

Though I guess I just did.

Now, we put fiber to everyone's home, $10/mo, and using all these links and more train our blue-collar workforce to program, work with robotics, in finance, in the teachings of China's barefoot doctors, (no? we shall see...), real history including labor this time, gardening, (what else?) and turn this economy around for the 99%. Because it looks like that may be the only way we get an investment in the people who do the work...
