Tesco To Scan Shoppers Eyeballs To Improve Advertising

The eyes of millions of shoppers are to be scanned at tills across the UK in a new way of targeting adverts at specific groups of customers.

Supermarket giant Tesco is installing new, hi-tech screens that select ads after identifying the age range of waiting customers - and determining whether they are male or female - above the checkouts in 450 petrol stations.

The hi-tech 'OptimEyes' devices are made by Lord Alan Sugar's Amscreen with the technology also adjusting the type of ads by date and time - and monitors customer purchases.

Ads in the morning could run a Red Bull advert in the morning rush, and switch to advertising a women's monthly magazine if several women appear in the queue.

I will not be taking off my shades when I have to go to the city and purchase anything anymore, or I will simply leave whatever it is right there at the register and leave the store if told to remove them... another thought is to wear those contact lens-like things that mask the iris of you eyes which will not reveal your true identity.

Now there's a new product line someone could develop, contacts lenses that are encoded for those scanners to confound them with alternate info! And I'm only on my first cup of coffee!
