This is a Ayn Rand movie.

Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal. It is about Paul Ryan and his killing the
poor people. This movie is from 1949! Ayn Rand wrote the book.
It is about an Architect (Gary Cooper) who says my way or no way. When
they built against his rules he he dynamited (blew up) the project and went
to court. Paul Ryan has watched this movie! He thinks he's Gary Cooper.
Cooper was just an actor.
This is 2013 and Paul Ryan is trying to be Gary Cooper. This movie sucks
John Wayne would never have played that role. I am not kiddding, the movie
has a moxie. Barbara Stanwych presented Mayer of MGM fame the
script in 1941 and she expected the role played by Patricia Neal. 7 years later
Stanwych is pissed.
This is a terrible movie cued on happenstance, just like the tea party,
always playing the what-if scenario.
You want to expose Paul Ryan just watch "The Fountainhead"

If Rand Paul can't handle the corporate-owned reporters who don't challenge anything or investigate anything--then he really is a wimp on steroids.

Wingers are busy saying that Obama loves to kill because of a supposed comment he made that's quoted in a new book

I hate dumb dog shit like that which pours ceaselessly from this awful, awful blog.

Rand Paul is an asshole. This comment of his is assholic but it's nothing compared to the comments he's made about civil rights

With all due respect, he did NOT actually say that he wanted to kill anyone. The guy is pretty pathetic, he (and/or his writers) certainly lifted a bunch of stuff straight from Wikipedia, he certainly said "if dueling were legal in Kentucky, if they keep it up, you know, it would be a duel challenge." So he implied that he would like to kill someone (or perhaps get killed by someone). But it's pretty misleading, IMHO, to say "Rand Paul says he wants to kill journalists." He just did not say that. The article headline implies he said that, but he didn't.

Perhaps this seems quibbly to you, but I think it is a poor strategy to start using sloppy language and inaccurate statements to respond to sloppy language and plagiarism. It leads, IMHO, to a sort of circular degeneration of discourse.

With all due respect.

He is clearly trying to intimidate journalists with his remarks, and is using "dueling" as part of that speech. He needs called on it.

Minimizing threatening speech does the recipients no favors. Those threatened face bigger risks (their lives) than do a political party or group.

What he's doing is feeding red meat to his followers. It's actually not in his interest to "intimidate" journalists. Its in his interest to be able to label journalists as lapdogs for those that oppose his "truth tellling" -- and playing that role for his sheeple.

I think it sounds like his handlers told him to show personal outrage about his ethics being questioned, and perhaps he latched on to the "duel" image as his idea of what intense outrage might look like. When you say he "clearly" is trying to intimidate journalists, I guess that "clarity" is kind of in the eye of the beholder. I don't find it that clear at all.

Don't get me wrong, I think the guy is a first-class asshole and I don't doubt that he is capable of threatening his critics with violence. But I think, for instance, that calling his words &quot t)hreats of violence" is a bit of a stretch. I think it is more effective to criticize these characters on what they actually say, which tends to be outrageously bad, rather than resort to statements that might seem like a stretch. IMHO.

That said, though, I think it says something about his mindset that he would come up with an image that, particularly in Kentucky, connects to a remarkably violent and bloody past. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually is fantasizing about killing his detractors. I just don't feel that he actually said he wanted to, in this particular instance.

I'm sure you'll defend this:

You'll claim the President never said any such thing or you'll say that it was taken out of context.

for the record, I think that the President probably meant it in a bitter, ironic way.

And it's beyond ridiculous to claim that he was trying to intimidate journalists with that stupid comment about dueling and YOU provide not a shred of evidence for your claim and neither does that asswipe turdo Mr. Bluntly Stupid.
