get out and vote and bring your Democratic friends to the polls with you.
In Minnesota, we're voting. If there's an election tomorrow, go and vote. If you don't know who to vote for, use Google and find out.
Never miss an election. That's how you do it.
GOTV!

(23,726 posts)Dems seem to be slackers in off year elections sometimes and then we get unpleasant surprises!

(146,262 posts)all over the country tomorrow, and I'm not seeing much about them on DU, so I'm posting a reminder to those who aren't thinking about the elections in their area.

(609 posts)I've been getting the GOP last-minute scare tactic calls all day. They are clearly worried, as they should be.

(65,616 posts)but now I wonder if some of them might vote Republican, I don't ask before they get in my car. Should I start screening people first? Never really thought about it until your OP.
MineralMan
(146,262 posts)I don't have a good answer. I sometimes drive people to the polls, too, but I don't ask, either. I consider voting to be one of the most important things we do as individuals, and I don't think it's appropriate to ask. I do my campaigning before the election. On Election day, it's time for each person to vote as he or she sees fit.
So, I kind of take the League of Women Voters perspective on election day. You want to vote? Need a ride? I'll be happy to take you to the polls if you live in my precinct.

(65,616 posts)A lot of them don't have a car (or if they do it doesn't work very well), but do want to vote. I think it is mostly a mixed bag, but I agree with you - the right to vote is paramount. I will just keep my mouth shut.

(15,933 posts)I will post tomorrow evening how things turned out as far as the new ID law works out.
I spent 3.5 hours Saturday election training on the whole election process (which is standard here), however, we spent a good portion of the training on the new voter ID law. We were informed that some of the information about the new law is a myth. I will hold my judgment until tomorrow, where I will be a first-hand witness!
Thanks for the thread.

(10,130 posts)the only thing on it is a local zoning measure that I'm not excited about one way or the other, but I always vote. Now, two years ago when the compost initiative was on the ballot that was a hotly contested election, with name-calling and mud-slinging on both sides. (I live in a staid, solidly Democratic district where election results are rarely a surprise, but I've never missed one)

We have one coming up in December. Katherine Clark (D-MA) for congress!
Good luck tomorrow, MineralMan.

(11,175 posts)Childless, not particularly knowledgeable about public education issues, and knowing virtually nothing about any of the candidates -- but after I vote for Barbara Buono for Governor, I have to get past the Board of Education before I can leave the voting booth in good conscience.
So, for the rest of tonight, please, nobody post any hilarious cat videos. You'll be distracting me from my civic duty.
I have a date with Google....
(BTW, I know at least enough to be hostile to charter schools and teaching to the test, but my guess is that none of the candidates will openly endorse those things anyway. I'm expecting to have to plow through a lot of mom-and-apple-pie rhetoric to try to make a semi-educated guess at who deserves the seats.)

(11,175 posts)One of the most powerful figures -- my State Senator and the mayor of the next city over -- is among the prominent Democrats who've endorsed Christie. I expect to leave the State Senator line blank on my ballot.
In fact, if I knew absolutely nothing else about the election, I'd be tempted to vote against any candidates the Hudson County Democratic Organization endorsed, just on the basis of that endorsement.

(12,448 posts)I'm in MD, suburb of DC. And Terry McAuliffe isn't my favorite politician by any means. But it's vital to keep Ken Cuccinelli out of office, not only for the sake of Virginians, but for the entire country.
So, Virginians, do what I cannot...go VOTE. and help get out the vote.
Thank you!
