Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hasnt even started her 2016 presidential campaign yet and shes already shutting out the press.
Clintons much-anticipated speech at the Moscone Center on Saturday before the National Association of Realtors conference, a convention that is drawing 22,000 people to San Francisco this week, will be blacked out closed to the media.
So will her big fundraiser Saturday night with Chelsea Clinton at San Franciscos Regency Ballroom, a Millennial Network event to benefit the Clinton Foundation.
The decision to bar reporters from the Clinton speech before thousands of Realtors is per her teams request, a National Association of Realtors spokeswoman told us in an e-mail Monday.

(59,501 posts)Having watched CSPAN coverage that has shown campaign speeches as they evolve over the year or so that a politician is covered, I suspect that it could be that they are testing pieces of what will become the 2016 campaign. In her case, she does not easily have the ability to take the "first draft" for lack of a better phrase to a small crowd in NH or Iowa - see what resonates and what doesn't and hone a better stump speech.
Especially at this point where she is not officially running, she is unusual in that she may have more media coverage than she actually wants.

(32,342 posts)Edit: kind of ironic since this reporter, Marinucci, got herself banned from White House press events for secretly filming President Obama at an event in San Francisco in 2011 and leaking the video.

"Journalist Carla Marinucci used her video phone to shoot some footage of protesters demonstrating at a fundraiser in San Francisco.
<snip>
The move is said to have infuriated the White House, resulting in her banning and even threats to other reporters.
Marinucci was apparently banned from being one of the approved pool of reporters to cover presidential visits to the San Francisco Bay area, The Daily Mail reports."
