Barely finished 9th grade-Really???

Because I saw this posted here:
<a href=".html" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt=" photo redneck_zpsec283910.jpg"/></a>

And other than a stereotype I see nothing-no ID, no proof, no facts, just a smear based on appearance.

I'd like the board to consider how it would respond to a right-wing smear with a "queer" "black" "commie" etc. drawn with such a broad brush and posted without a hint of backing documentary facts. The young man LOOKS like one thing to you and I but could be further left, greener, or more progressive than you or I.

And unless you want to be a democrat who spouts about being able to spot "them people" then posts like this are wrong.

This person could be someone closely linked to skinhead philosophy, or he could be the guy that drives me home six miles at night when my car glitches out, won't take a five for his trouble, and says, "You have a good evening, ma'am."

Stereotypes don't do much to help us as a society.

and I live in a house valued north of $1M, four blocks off the Plaza of the coolest town in Wine Country.

A few weeks ago, a couple moved in down the street. I was out screwing around in my front yard (a John Greenlee-designed meadow) when my new neighbor walked down the sidewalk and asked if I could lend a hand with some furniture.

So, being a nice guy and all, I walked down the way and helped the guy move some dining room stuff around.

He slipped me a twenty and asked for my cell number in case he had any 'small jobs'.

I told him that he already knew where I live. His expression was priceless.

I kept the twenty.

The only DUer I have ever known was a wonderful man named Colin Goff, known here as Redstone. I met him circa 1970. Alas, Colin left us two years ago this month. While going thru old emails, I came across a mention of this site. I miss him every day.

So I signed up.

That's kinda funny about the other poster. You know, they say there is another for every one of us. I am not a wealthy person (in terms of dollars, but I am wealthy beyond belief in Joy of Life), I just live on a great property that I cannot bring myself to part with.

I first met Colin on a flight to SE Asia, back in the day. Those times left their mark on him, but he went on to start a successful business, marry a fine woman (when she wasn't really pissed at one of his stunts) and contribute to society at large.

For what it's worth, I was the guy who phoned California Peggy with the bad news, as I was not a member of DU and couldn't post it. That was one of the worst nights of my life and I have had a lot of bad nights.

They said it was vodka and vicodin, but it was Orange that did it.

I actually met another DUer thru Colin. His name was Wiley White and his handle here was Wiley50. Funny thing is, we had initially met back in the 60s in Zilker Park (Austin) when Wiley was part of Family Hand. Wiley died a few weeks after Colin, broke and alone on some old sailboat. I have never forgiven myself for not being of more help, but I sent him a lot of Humboldt's Best.

Maybe I'll write about all of that and post it on DU.

May God bless them, all.

Hey, panader0...

Baby needs new strings.

We missed you on Hallow'een. We now have a laser-light show all over the property.

Frito Pie and Carneros beer.

You would have loved it.

I wish you could've been here. Michael Hyland (Capricorn Music) was at the house. We had an endless loop of "I Put a Spell on You" (multiple artists) and the lights, alcohol and other was really fine.

Maybe next time...

Or maybe we can head SouthEast. But that's a long drive...

Political boundaries too. Political boundaries especially, if one is prone to participate in political discussion boards.

People with little or no self-esteem simply do not function well unless there is someone in their life or experience they can single out, laugh at, and claim to be superior to. Self-esteem seems to come and go... I've stereotyped; I'm pretty sure everyone I know has done it, and I'm of the opinion that anyone who says they've never placed another person into a stereotype for one thing or another (usually for their own amusement or in an attempt to amuse or ingratiate themselves to others they feel inferior to) is either a liar, or Jesus Christ.

Why is there a place called New Hampshire? So people from TEXAS can have someone to laugh at... See what I did there?
